Greetings all, first post... please be gentle.

Have a Bravo diesel, 1.6 eco engine which I need to fill up with water every few days or the car overheats. Some info:

1 - Have found no evidence of leaks

2 - Overheated once and when I popped the lid the water container was empty. Opened the cap and water flooded back into the container!?!?!

3 - This week I undid the blue valve on the right hand side of the engine [radiator pipe] to hopefully release an airlock and all was wel - fluid ran out of itl.

4 - Heater works fine and no other issues.

I am at a loss to why this occurs. I have a Fiorino van, also new'ish, and have never filled the container up!

Out of warranty so would appreciate any guidance.

Best regards
Rich

Could it be an airlock in the coolant system? It would explain why coolant rushes back into the tank when you open the lid (pressurised system).

No idea how to bleed the bravo cooling system though! A Mk1 Punto I can do...the Bravo not so much lol

How is a 2009 out of warranty ?

Have you checked your oil level ? is it filling up or turned to toffee yoghurt ?

Also the coolant is pink and leaves a lovely pink stain when it leaks outside of its system.

As for bleeding the system... all the coolant ports should be open and then fill the system up until the the coolant bleeds out of the ports. then close the ports and fill the bottle to the max line, run the engine with the heater on half speed and vents on face let the engine heat up naturally and keep checking to see if the heater is getting hot. once the heater is hot and the rad fan has cut in you are now safe to refit the coolant bottle cap, also to note one the car has cooled down re-check the coolant level as it may have dropped... this is prolly wrong for some out there but this is the way i have and always will do it.

Hope this helps a little
