General Things You Hate About Your Bravo?

my ford does but i have never seen this as a fault on this or any Fiat.

(y)

Consider yourself lucky - my Mk1 Punto, Mk2 Punto and Stilo, plus at least another one Mk2 Punto i've driven have all had the dodgy indicator stalk.

mk1 punto was the red lever under the dashboard drivers side...kinda directly under the steering column.

Yup, you had to clasp it almost like you were sticking two fingers up at someone and pull it towards you. It was in a similar position to very old Fords - our X reg Escort had an orange lever in a similar place.

All the Fiats i've had have had driver side bonnet releases. My 02 plate Clio's was on the passenger side though (and the wipers went the wrong way!)

I don't hate anything with my Bravo, but a few shortcomings are inevitable:

1. Tiny glove compartment, which fills up damn fast when I keep my insurance information, along with car servicing booklet, and a 12CD booklet for my music CDs.

2. Awkward cigarette lighter power point position/design, makes it difficult to plug more than one device to it (i.e. one for bluetooth speaker, and one for GPS) as the splitters don't fit at all.

3. Silly cup-holder design which does not hold more than one drink at a time (even though there are two holders) and can't fit anything wider than a 330ml can.

4. Even sillier chiller console that can only fit a 500ml mineral water bottle. Can't even fit a medium sized (22oz) McDonald's cup properly (the lid sticks out)

5. Trip computer menu unable to do bi-directional browsing, i.e. if you miss the function you wanted to check, you'd have to keep tapping the Trip button one more round to see it again.

6. Front seats unable to fold backwards - I mean, how hard or advanced is it to fit a release lever to fold my front seats backwards?

Otherwise, i'm very happy with my ride!

  1. Auto head lights aren't an option in Australia
  2. Auto wipers
  3. Single reverse and rear fog light (looks very stupid IMO - twin lights look nicer)
  4. Rear original spoiler is a waste, you cant even tell there is a spoiler...should have been a proper sport spoiler
  5. 5 spoke rims rather then the stupid multi spokes. Hard to clean brake pads.
  6. Original muffler hangs low & looks like its broken or something... REALLY ugly design
  7. Really hard to get to the air filter. You cant just simply open the hood and undo the box. you need to lift the stupid thing
  8. dash bord hard to keep clean. Easy scratched
  9. rear lights are old lamps. Should be LED
  10. Cup holders in centre consol are one of the most un useful things i have seen... you can fit any drink in there other then small cans. WTF!??? how dumb is that!???

A few, extremely minor inconveniences for me:

  • Indicating right problem
  • Low clearance on speed bumps
  • Easily marked door trim
  • One touch windows are backwards (should be tap for auto, hold for manual)
  • Spraying front washers ends up down driver door (or in the car if the window isn't up!)
  • No boot handle
  • Blue&Me doesn't always resume last song on startup

I couldn't possibly fault the car in any other way, it's wonderful!

I've scraped the front arms on mine quite a few times, I agree it's a horrid frightful noise.
So far sounded far worse than it was.
Nothing to hate about the car but still minor niggles
Indicators cancel a bit too keen
Blue and me is flakey (but that's Microsoft for you). Would be nice if media player was more integrated to the head unit (track info displayed on it an skip controls worked there too, not just on the Steering wheel).
No power fold option on mirrors.
No Clutch foot rest

Seats could be more comfortable and not really enough leg room for a tall person like myself and very little leg room in the rear when front seats all the way back.
Recessed instruments with chrome surround; difficult to see speed, especially when I need to see the KM's, and my left hand often obscures the dial. (I admit my close vision is far from wonderful).
Duo-logic feels sluggish at times. Come to a rolling stop at a roundabout and then try to accelerate, there is often a lag that is quite disturbing. I prefer traditional auto transmission.
Finally, Blue & Me and the radio off timer. The radio/ usb media player is so erratic! I think all it's quirks have been posted in other threads so I won't go on about it, just to say that it is most frustrating.

The only real gripe I've got is the seats - far too short for thigh support, but my last two cars were a VW Golf and an Astra and their seats were 10 times worse.

I thought the right turn thing was a fault in my car! but looks like quite a few people have it.

One other strange problem - very occassionaly the sound from the radio goes very low, this lasts for a few minutes then returns to normal. The dealer can't seem to fix it

OK..I've read through everyone elses messages and there's one thing that I really hate about my Bravo, that noone else has mentioned - so maybe I'm doing something wrong...

The fuel filler cap - In order to open it, you have to put the whole key in it, then unlock it, and then turn it to open it, whilst the key is still stuck in it - its just such an awkward way of doing it and for me its the most annoying feature by far..!

Secondly, the standard cd system doesn't play MP3's (I've not got Blue and Me), which is pretty unforgivable on a 2008 car...

And finally - random quiet moments on the stereo when starting the car in the mornings - usually only for a few mins, then back up to full blast - clearly a fault, but one noone seems able to fix...!

Apart from that, its a stylish car and given the amount of miles we're throwing at it - its holding up pretty well so far...

1/The fuel cap thing is on all fiats, not just on the bravo.
2/Mp3 player is 100pounds option.
3/Are you sure there are not a setting on ur stereo which allow you to turn that "feature" off??
Glad you enjoy it, what model do you got btw?

I don't hate anything about it. The overhangs are too long, but that's down to safety. The plastics at the bottom of the dash aren't great, but it's a great value car. The dials can be hard to see and the wrong way round, but look great.

All in all, it does a job better than anything else for the money. The only thing that I can really think of are the residuals. What us it going to be worth in2 years time with 80k on it?

1) Juddery, wobbly, crazy diesel issues (DPF)
2) Rattles (some are one offs, some are old friends)
3) The fat rear end gets mucky after 3 seconds driving after I've just cleaned it (4 seconds if it's not raining)

as with all diesels... especially the 150 mjet.... you have to have it finely balanced to make a getaway.... do it wrong and you get nothing for a while (and 1.0 micras beating you of the line) or leaving number 11's everywhere :p

You paid less, so correspondingly it will be worth less, but after 3/4 years and 80K most cars are same level percentage wise. Whilst a Golf might be worth more it is offset by higher initial costs.

I hate the ventilation as it is very loud on position 3 and up, and air condition takes a while to cool down the temperature if it is more than 30 degrees outside

pass my driving test, go out for a drive, next thing i know, the engine is over heating, wasnt even reving much because still needed to be run in!!!
now i have a useless car, well ok it looks good, sound system is awesome (not standard though obviously) and its my first car so i love it regardless.
but damn i hate not being able to drive!!!!

I also hate changing oil on the car. The filter is in the worst place ever. **** design again by fiat

I hate how the air filter is place on the bottom right corner. Hard to get to!!!

Hate is a strong word, but stuff that gets on my nerves...

1. Blue&Me interface far more awkward than it needs to be:
a) when it changes track, it displays the track name for a fixed period and until then you can't access the trip meter etc.
b) no facility to play through the tracks in all folders in order - only random or folder at a time
c) the system is clever enough to recognise voice commands including phone contacts' names, so why can't it recognise song titles?
d) occasional and random "no media found" errors which prevent access by folder/artist etc, yet will still play happily on random, and is "cured" by swapping for another memory stick presumably to clear the system's memory?
2. Lousy rear visibility and steeply raked side windows = awkward to park straight! (Even my 7 series was easier to park and that thing was ridiculously large)
3. FIAT DEALERS! Just for once I'd like to arrive for a service and not have to wait an hour while some clown chases round for the courtesy car that they've somehow "lost". And also not have to put up with finding that they didn't change the wiper blades because they forgot to order them.
4. Cornering lights are a pointless and dangerous idea (people confuse them with indicators and pull out on you at roundabouts!). At least give us the option to deactivate a little more gracefully than by pulling the foglight fuse out.
5. No option (at least there wasn't when I ordered my Bravo) to upgrade the stereo and speakers. Standard system doesn't cope well with anything bassy at decent levels of volume.
6. Air con could do with a bit more cooling power.

Not bad going really, considering that the last time I drove an Astra I could have gone on for days about how utterly s***e it was in every respect! For the want of minor details and a few dealerships who actually give a toss, Fiat could have flogged thousands more Bravos to people who instead have settled for some dismal Korean misery-box based on percieved reliability.

They do. Go into the menu through the mode button hit cornering lights and turn off! (y)
