I just added a botlle of this stuff to my engine oil, immediate effect, the engine is already quieter. I don't normally subscribe to such products but a friend tried it in his Clio diesel and raved about it, it really does work................................

I am a complete skeptic about these products. I dont believe with the tolerances that exist in the manufacturing of modern engines and the advances in oil (mainly synthetic) that you need them.

As with most additives, if they are that great how come the manufacturers of oil/petrol dont add them?

I had a 1.1 Panda Selecta that did 130k miles, a Punto JTD close to 140k with nothing but regular servicing, by me when I was a poor student and laterly by my local garage (unfortunately main dealer until my new Bravo is out of warranty) so its not as if engines are crying out for these products. Both cars are still going btw, I see them time to time.

Will be interesting to hear other peoples opinions on this.

I agree that most modern oils contain all this stuff already, I ran a citroen engine to 155k with just the recomended 20k service intervals, was all fine (the engine, the rest of the car fell apart! lol..) my fiat is nearly 100k now, just normal 18k oil changes, and no worries, never used a drop...

I remember when they first were testing mobil 1 when it was first released, they ran a BMW to 100k changing the oil with mobil1 at recomended intervals, and they then took the engine apart and measured the tolerances, and they could have sold the engineas a new engine, as it came within factory tolorences for a new unit!

Me too! I'm the worst, Slick 50, ZX1, Snake Oil, etc, but I honestly have to say, I stuck my head in the engine bay and had a good listen before adding the product, added the product, went for a 10 minute drive, stuck my head in the engine bay again and I swear the engine is less tickety tackety, it's definitely quieter.

Quotes from the website, and these are absolute classic...

""ZX1 shows a marked fuel economy in my Granada and also my ford Transit 2.5 D""

Ford Granada..... ok, thats not exactly a modern car and the other ones a commercial vehicle.

The next ones the best.

"I recently purchased a second hand car, an N-reg, Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 injection ( unleaded), in January of this year. After running it for a little while I discovered that the vehicle was doing close to 45 miles to the gallon. Then at the next oil check I added the required amount of ZX1 to the oil and to the fuel tank. After about 50 miles I could tell the difference in the quietness of the engine. Then at about 200 miles later I decided to do a mileage test again. The results were astounding, for general driving I was now getting between 50-55 miles per gallon but at best, on the open road, the car achieved 60 miles per gallon."

oooooookkkkkkkkkkaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy then. Anything that claims to get you better fuel economy like that is snake oil.

I can't comment about fuel economy but adding this product has made the engine quieter suggesting that it must have some sort of anti-friction or high lubrication properties.

Who knows but at £15 it's worth a go and can't do any harm.

According to their website
It does not contain particles
but, also according to their website
it only uses it as a carrier to transport its minute molecules

What's the difference between a molecule and a particle.

it does not change the characteristics of the oil
It must do. It adds molecules to it. I note that nowhere do they state what the molecules consist of. Although, the COSHH sheet states "modified hydrocarbons with EP additives".

From Wikipedia:
EP additives are rarely used in motor oils. The sulfur or chlorine compounds contained in them can react with water and combustion byproducts, forming acids that facilitate corrosion of the engine parts and bearings.

I'll stick to my molybdenum-containing Molyslip, thanks.

A molecule is a type of particle along with atoms and ions.

A molecule is a type of particle along with atoms and ions.
A particle is a part of the whole, so:

A fundamental particle is a particle of a proton/neutron/electron
protons/neutrons/electrons are particles of atoms
atoms are particles of molecules
molecules are particles of.............
The Earth is a particle of the solar system..............

So a "particle" is meaningless unless you know the scale.
