Dug this out of the FQ from quite a while ago...is it still the best way of doing it?

"Q: How do you connect to the AUX input on the basic CD radio?
A: Go on Fleabay via this link: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/G-M-Production and search in the shop for Bravo 2007. You need the lead and the radio removal keys, so being as the pound is worth about the same as a pound of manure at the moment, together these will set you back about £40. Wait about a week, then install in 2 minutes. Enjoy(y) "

Has anyone done this and have any advice or have a better or an alternative way of doing it...

Thanks

Just noticed the link doesnt work anymore. Sure it did when I checked it before.

So, another question. Where do you get the fittings from now?

Does look very good indeed. How are people fitting it in 2 mins like the FAQ says?

Don't fancy having to do thAt much work TBH! Somewhere through the glovebox?

With the confidence that comes with experience, keys in, withdraw radio, say 20 seconds, plug in aux lead, another 20 seconds, feed the aux lead through to glovebox, allow 40 seconds, get the keys out of the radio 20 seconds, slot the radio back in, 20 seconds. I've done two now, the third I'll do in the 2 minutes:)

Though for the nice job Diag has done, maybe an hour? All depends how easy it is to feed the lead down the back of the heater controls.

Thanks for that. Sounds a lot easier!

How do you feed it to the glovebox? Is there a way in soemwhere from behind the radio?

When you have the radio out, and glovebox open, you will see bottom/left/front of the radio aperture through into the glovebox ( RHD car ). You can poke the wire through here. If its awkward, just tape the end of the aux lead to a piece of stiff wire to feed it through.

Thanks so much. Feeling a lot more confident now. Apologies for another question, but, which way in do the removal keys go? Have read you can break the pins inside if you don't do it properly! Does the flat edges point towards each other or away?

The flat edges are to the outside. As you push the keys in, the sloping edge gradually pushes the retention spring in. If you have the same keys as me, there is a little notch the retention keys locate in, so you pull on the keys to withdraw the radio.

this might be a little bit bit off topic but my cd player is stuck as my dad tryed to remove it the wrong way, and now it will only come out a couple of inches... is there any other way of removing the cd player?

hmmm... One of owners of the bravo in Russia has the same problem!

Did anyone try to use some 'homemade' release keys? What could I use instead of buying some overpriced ones (20 Euro!) from Ebay?

Just managed to get my HU out - The place that fitted the parrot kit evidently bent one of the retaining pins so it slides the wrong side of the locking clip. It was in the Fiat dealer today, who told me they would have to strip the dash to get the unit out - at around £200 labour.

As the HU is playing up and not covered by warranty, and a replacement was quoted at £450, this was just *not* an option that was going to happen.

As you pull the stereo out you should be able to suss out which side is snagging - in my case it was the left, so I left the right side removal key in and went about releasing the other side.

As it was, the locking clip was fairly bent, otherwise I reckon you could just about have gotten something like a hacksaw blade to slide in enough to keep the clip from coming out the wrong side.

If that fails, remove the silly plastic trim directly below the stereo. This leaves you enough room to get a narrow screwdriver up and to the side of the unit. If you're lucky you will be able to lever the locking strip back inside. If you're unlucky, or have ran out of patience by now, direct the screwdriver at the base of the locking pin and give it a bit of a wiggle. the tab will snap off fairly easily allowing you to remove the HU.

If the tab has already snapped, and not at its base, you can lever the locking clip out enough to clear what's left of the tab.

Just got my cable through the post - however have a couple of questions..

How do I get the bottom part under the HU out ? scared to pull it too hard incase it snaps...and,

How easy is it to feed the cable down and under the gear knob gait ?

Fitted :)

Had to get proper keys from Fiat who pinged it out and let me on my way with no charge, and after a bit of knuckle scraping, got the cable through glovebox.

Awesome sound - compared to the itrip FM rec' I had, it's a breath of fresh air.
