Technical Fitting Aux-In

Technical Fitting Aux-In

@aac Are you telling me this piece of [annoying stereo] has a the capacity to feed a sub? I'd take back all the bad things I've said about it, if only I could remove it from the dash!
Ok, so I'm real close to under standing this now. @ahumbletramp said I need both. Is that the case even for just an analog line in, or can I just buy one cable (RCA or USB)?

i dint have b&m so i just bought the cable and used it, no troubles. general idea seems to be u either have b&m or an aux cable, if u have read this thread from the start, thats how i picked it up, but as i said, didnt have b&m to start with, so no choices to make, except where to get my cable.
i didnt see any way of fitting a sub to the stereo, didnt see and rca outputs, or a remote cable either, but still could be wrong.

Yes, i read the thread through before posting and several times again before taking action on the car. Still not sure now, oh well :)
I found my stereo retaining clips were both broken off. To really rub salt in to the wounds, upon taking all the centre dash and gator off, i found a third broken clip lying around. So not only has the car got broken stereo retaining clips but its obviously broken and been replaced by the previous owner!
Found a load of third party cabling in the back of the car, iphone cables, gsm, RCA, ISO... You name it, it was all in there. But the best bit of cabling i found stuffed in the back of the stereo was a unconnected B&M connector. Audio from my B&M at last. I was beginning to thing she was mute!
Whole job with 2 ppl took just over 3 hrs, and 10 mins to connect and replace. Job well done.
Thanks for everyones help. Need to update other threads now.

Btw, if anyone else is having trouble removing the stereo due to broken clips, PM me. it might just save you 3hrs work.

AMT, you said you have the blue&me right? Did you manage to install the aux-cable? If so did you follow the instructions quoted in the beginning of this thread?

I thought it wasn't possible to install aux if you have blue&me?

If you've done it I'd be more than interested to know how you did it.

Hi carijo, I intended on fitting an AUX cable if the B&M was indeed faulty upon inspection. However after taking the headunit out, the B&M cable simply wasn't connected.

My guess is that whilst you can still fit an AUX cable to a B&M featured car, one would have to disconnect (unplug) the B&M audio input to enable any other form of input.

The AUX-IN cable uses the same audio input port required by the B&M.

#carijo, Out of interest, what did you have in mind?

Unfortunately I'm not entitled to post links in this forum yet but there is an earlier thread at the fiat forum from 2008 "grande-punto/166062-can-i-have-aux-blue-me.html" that describes how it can be done. I'm not sure how to do it though, if you have to cut the wire and splice it or if it's possible to do without cutting the wires. I don't feel comfortable cutting a wire in my car but I really would like to be able to connect my smartphone to the car's sound system.

Hi,
I know its not ok to ask but i cant buy this from ebay (because my country doenst support paypal), so i whant to make one can somone tel me how to do wiering and what parts do i need thanks a lot.

Just fitted mine and took 10mins in total and i am a complete novice. Got the keys in correct and felt the bite, left the plastic trim underneath the radio as it felt tight from one end so didn't want to bust it. So anyway pulled the radio out with the keys and didn't need that plastic bit out anyway. Connected the lead and tested my iphone and the sound was very clear. I found it easier to fold the lead in 2 and feed it to the glovebox and then it was easy to get hold of it as you have 2 wires to get hold of.

Thanks for the imformation and advice for fitting.(y)

Alright David, yeah the cable was spot-on and simple job to do. If you like i can drop the radio keys at work for you to use if that's ok.

I have a different console, a connect nav+ nit g2. Can I use the same keys to remove the console as you've described the radio edition.

I'd like to install the aux, but i'm not sure the console suits the aux source. Does my system supports this feature? And how many pins? otherwise it will be the more expensive option of a CD emulator for USB/SD/Bluetooth. For both setups 1 more question.
Does the navigation still works at the same time playing a mp3 file? Might be a question for a different post.

As I was not able to edit my previous, I had to post another message.
In the meanwhile I sorted out that you cannot use the keys a described in this thread: For removing the connect nav+ console you need different keys. I found these on ebay at G.M. production.

The aux function is not present at this console. So the option of of a CD emulator for USB/SD/Bluetooth remains. I shall post the last question "does the navigation still works at the same time playing a mp3 file?" into a different thread.

Hi all quoting a post in this suject a few pages ago, my bravo has a stock bog standard radio. no B+M or no MP3 symbol on the front but it still has the AUX option when you press SRC. the picture of the cable that has just the mini jack (male) connector and the blue and green radio connector to the radio (this is what i brought from G+M production on ebay)

i am asking do i need al the cbles in the first part of the suject or is it ok to work with what i got.

Ok too all fellow bravo owners who are having a few problems. I have finally had some success and now feeling proud of myself I have fitted and it works!!!

So just to recap

Brought from Italy, fitted and no bass from sound, 3visits to fiat and no success, 4th time lucky get the radio out, take out cable and notice that one of the little cables had snapped!!!

Soldered it back together and now it works woooooooo

IPod time me thinks with a cruise through the countryside:slayer:

Does anyone actually have a pin-out of the connectors on the back of the Visteon Non-MP3 stereo in the Bravo?

I have a bravo with that stereo, with B&M (the AUX option isnt there) and pins C18,19,20 on the blue connector have something connected - I assume this is B&M's audio.

I do get the option for CD Changer (Which I don't have) though when I press SRC.. and I'm guessing the audio goes in from that to a diffrerent set of pins.. anyone know which pins they are?

I'm thinking I can use those to get the audio in from an aux socket.. and keep B&M for USB MP3 playback. This would be ideal.

Was there an option on the Bravo to have B&M AND a CD Changer? Does anyone have it and if so have you got a photo of the back of your radio?

Thanks,
Sam

Nice thread!
Been thinking about this and came up with a better idea:
Instead of 2-way (stereo) 3.5 jack plugs why not use 3-way jack and a microphone on the third.
That way will also have handsfree.

Will be doing this.. very soon (after i source the plugs, sockets, wires, microphone)

Any opinions?

Hi, new to the forum.

I'm thinking of doing this even though I have Blue and Me. If I disconnect the USB input (unused currently and won't recognise my ipod anyway) and fit this auxillary jack will I still be able to use my mobile through the system, I.E hands free, contacts and phoning people using voice recognition/steering wheel controls?

Yes, but why would you be disconnecting the USB port
