Got a puncture other day so used the horrible fix and go, rand fiat to replace the cartridge they wanted £24.97 + vat What a rip off, so got a tube of tyre weld for £6 from a local shop. I think fiat should make it cheaper as other stores do similar thing alot cheaper

Works for small punctures, dodgy if the hole is in or near a sidewall IMO.

I dumped the whole idea & bought a brand new spare standard steelie with a brand new tyre on it from my dealer, a jack & a wheel-nut spanner for £20 from a scrappies for £5.

All this because the rubbish goo can let me down & I had to drive 200 miles with a flat the goo couldnt fix! Then I find out most tyre repairers wont touch a puntured tyre if goo has been used...

Rubbish idea.... Lose - lose situation.

Love the extra space I have in the trunk, so I guess I'm going to play more with my luck and will not buy a real tire for now :D

Didnt have more space in my boot either way because of the huuuuge plastic moulding Fiat put in there for the Goo etc.

Fair play fella, admire your determination!

Got my jack for free, the wheel more or less for free, and the tyre for free.

not that the boot isnt big enough already :p...

i must admit the under floor compartments are good for hiding/storing things in :)

You can store/hide things inside the spare wheel!

I changed the F&G to a spare wheel kit with a local member here. Kind of
old fashioned what I am ... (y)

I like! Best plan.

I mean the space under the floor. There's definitely more space when there's no tire. I have like...everything under the floor - first aid kit, fire distinguisher, fix&go, several car cosmetics cans, instruments and space for at least another fix&go kit (or something with the same size).

Put a tire and all of this goes up in the main boot compartment and starts moving like crazy :)

Though wheel balance is a problem, and a higher unsprung weight will affect the ride quality!

Then you need to find tyre fitters you can trust.....

Imagine a blowout and shredding the tyre on the M25, and a couple of kilos of cocaine forming a cloud? ( How effective are pollen filters? )

It did do its job but i still prefer a proper spare but i suppose if its night time its easier than jacking car up and swapping tyres around in the dark. Plus if we got a flat an needed to swap tyres the missus would ring me to come sort it, also if you cant be assed with fix and go ring aa,rac etc and they will take it to get fixed at a garge.

The only reason I dont have a spare is that I forgot to order it when ordering the car:( I will buy a spare wheel(y) I ordered the 500 with spare wheel:D Does anyone know if the original 16"(alloy) wheel will fit in the spare wheel compartment? If it does I can just put a winterwheel there during summer and a summer wheel during winter(y)

Yes, the 16" alloys will go in the spare wheel well. Assuming you've got 195/55R16 tyres, it will just lift the floor mat 2 or 3mm about.

Can you use the kit easily for checking and adjusting pressures on unpunctured tyres or is it better to use a seperate compressor?

Have a full sized that freely fits in the wheel well which I needed to use recently when a tyre got damaged a very long way from home and the expense was justified.... Fix and go os only much use for VERY small holes and will require a new tyre after use in nearly all situations; I tow occasionally so fix and go, and space savers are not much use to me. Each to their own though. I do keep the fix and go in the car in case of a double puncture.
