Perhaps a stupid question - but where do I position axle stands? Need to take front wheels off to get one repaired and the car will be sitting on stnads - but I've no idea where they should be positioned.

Anyone able to help please? Diagram or pictures would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

elearn says:

eLearn - Contents To raise the vehicle using lift arms or a workshop lift, arrange the ends of the arms or the lift in the areas shown in the diagram only.
Take care on the SPORT versions not to damage the side miniskirts

The vehicle should only be raised at the side. After lifting the vehicle, support it on safety stands. It is absolutely forbidden to lift the vehicle by positioning the workshop lift under the front suspension wishbones and strap or under the rear suspension axle.

There is a diagram, which shows lifting points 75cm behind the front wheel centre, and 72cm in front of the centre of the rear wheels.

Thanks - no idea what that means, but have eLearn (I didn't think it would cover that - idiot), so I'll have a gander, thanks.

Its under Technical Data/Vehicle Introduction/Lifting and Towing Points.

Basically its saying Only put the weight of the car on the jacking points

I'm sure there must be other strong points, but with a smooth underside, how do you find them?

Now on my first car, a Ford Anglia, that was under the metal, not the cardboard:mad:
