Hi all,

Not sure if you have come across the same issue but the FIAT logo on my steering wheel has started to wear off. I haven't touched or hit it with anything. There is no damage on it. The chrome section on the logo is going black and coming off. So I took it to my dealer today and they said they will replace the whole steering wheel.

They ordered it so hope there will be no drama when they replace the whole thing.

I think it was a fault at the factory... maybe the person that installed it may have hit the badge with a tool? No idea... it doesnt look right... I will get some pictures if i can.

mine too is starting to lose the chrome in the badge, the car has only 9000 km..

Well the whole steering wheel is getting replaced from what the dealer said to me...

Just got a call from t he dealer and they said they are waiting for FIAT to approve the warranty claim...

It will cost them $2500 to replace the whole steering wheel in cluding air bag... just for a badge! Well I dont care I wont be paying for it :)

$2500????????????? Whats that in real money? I thought the badge was on the airbag, so why not just replace the airbag?

So did I just pay for 6 airbags and get the rest of the car free?

My whole GP steering wheel cost Fiat around 300euro - I don't think the $2500 price is real - I'll have a look on ePER for it...

UPDATE: According to ePER v.46 Steering Wheel cost 303.19GBP, and Air-Bag is 565.01GBP...

I asked if they can replace the cover where the badge is placed and they said they need to replace the whole steering wheel! No idea...

I got the approval for the fix.

They said they will change teh air bag with has the badge attached to it.

So I hope they do a good job!

Taking mine in to the dealers tomorrow to be looked at.

The leather on the top of the steering wheel is bobbling up in the heat. Now has loads of blisters lol.

Feels horrid and will eventually rip.

Lets see what they say!(y)

Ok i got it looked at today and SO MANY dramas!!!

they tried to pull off the centre peice on the steering wheel and had damaged it and bent the side of the peice back which cause a bad crease! Then they said to be able to release the air bag they had to pearce the side of the steering wheel. So no i have these ugly holes there... Then they said the air bag the re ordered wasnt the same. The one they ordered was exactly what the workshop manual said BUT the one in my car was totally different!!! They say mine might be the last batch of its build time. They think it has changed in the later models. Mine is a July 2008 build model.

Then the dealer said they will order/find out what part they need to fit and will chaneg the centre cap with a new one but will patch up the holes on the side. I refused with anger that i want it also replaced and will NOT accept that hole. His answer was "the workshop manual says to do that but it actually wasnt a proceedure suitable for you car model" I replied... If you had told me that you were going to puncture holes I would have told you to not worry about it. WHY didnt you tell me? He goes Sorry my mechanice told me after he did it...

So he admitted they f#$%ed up! I am now waiting on news from ATECO (FIAT Australia) to inform what will happen...

I am pretty upset about it all...

This is over a defected steering wheel badge probably worth NOTHING. Now cost a WHOLE steering wheel to change!

So I'm not the only unhappy Fiat customer in Australia.. :chin:

Mate the chances of you winning the $90 million jackpot is 90 million times better than getting any compensation from the dealer and/or Ateco. I'm surprised he admitted it was his f up cos usually they just blame the receptionist..

Good luck.

OMFG!!!!!

The plastic tube has broken off the top of the filter AGAIN!!!... so its just sucking in hot, dirty air from the engine bay! Im so over this crap!

Im now going to go late to work to get this sorted out tomr morning... I really feel like I should have listened to people about FIAT's!

11,500 km and ive not had a single issue with my car...

Dealer is great (lance dixon doncaster) and car running better than ever..

I must be one of the few who havnt had many dramas, and have had nothing but good luck dealing with the dealers... 12months on and the car has only had 2 minor problems that have been painlessly sorted out under warranty.

I feel for you ausritmo, but sounds like your dealing with a dodgy dealer... :(

According to eLearn, there are "special ttols" to remove the airbag. Its not very clear what they are, but they seem to slip between the small gap between the airbag and he steering wheel. I imagine they work similarly to the radio release keys. The whole job is very straightforward. It should be drama free, and take little longer than one of Jenson Button's pit stops.

What a load of T****RS

I really hope I don't experience any of these problems... my bravo's only got 1400 miles on the clock.
