Can someone please reassure me how the brakes are meant to feel on a Bravo MJ 150 Sport.

I have just purchased this and feel that the brakes are not responsive or sharp enough given the power of the vehicle.

I have to depress my foot on the brake pedal a long way for the brakes to do the required job. I find myself approaching stationery vehicles and having to really press down hard at the last minute because they have not slowed me down enough with my foot firmly on the pedal.

When I am stationary on an incline with my foot on the brake pedal, I find myself starting to roll back and so having to depress the pedal much harder.

Surely the braking should be felt at the slightest touch of the brake pedal shouldn't it ??

The car has done 16k miles and I am wondering whether the brake pads need replacing given that the tyres are virtually near the legal limit and so have probably never been replaced.

Brakes are usually sh*t hot TBH. Mine are, were so much so when I first got it I had to re-learn my braking style! Got used to them now, I would have described the brakes on my GPS MJet as "Fierce" at first with plenty stopping power.

Recommend you take to a fiat dealer as i work at one and have had two of these faults on bravo which turned out to be faulty master cylinders and when replaced never came back.im not saying this is what is wrong with yours but recommend it to be checked.

I had the same problem on my 57 120 T-Jet.

The problem was a cracked brake master cylinder which leaked fluid when braking.

This meant that if I breaked very firmly the fluid could not leak out fast enough and the brakes were adequate. However, if I applied progressive breaking the fluid was leaking out quicker and I ended up with my foot on the floor and no brakes, yikes!!

Fiat changed the part with no quibble and my car even got viewed by Fiat technical services which I guess is some sort of head office operation.

Brakes are now totally fine.

I know this solution was mentioned above but thought it was worth mentioning as it appears to be a not uncommon problem.

Get it into Fiat, quick.
