Hi, I have recently purchased these lights and fitted them just under the front foglamps
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....ksid=p3907.m29&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=2

I have fitted them connected to the sidelamps wire (on the drivers side loom-easier access , using a piggy back spade connector) so they turn on automatically when the sidelamps are turned on.

When I turn on the ignition everything works great . The problem is when I then turn on the engine , after about a second the drivers side sidelamp and the led lights turn off and a blown bulb message appears on the dash.

When I disconnect the led lights from the sidelamp wiring and re start the car , the sidelamp works again and the blown bulb warning goes away.

My car is a 150 multijet sport.

I would be very grateful if somebody has any ideas of how to get these working. Thankyou

I suspect that the car is detecting a fault on the bulb circuit and reacting to it as it is programmed too. The fact you've wired in additional bulbs/LED's that are probably drawing a different current and altering the circuit and it's characteristics to the regular original bulbs mean the car is being fooled into believeing there is something wrong and telling you the bulb is blown.

Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge can help in more depth?

power them via a relay if you must have them (y)

Hi, I have finally sorted the problem out . I purchased a remote control wiring kit with relay in Halfords yesterday and it works great . I can now turn on the led lights on and off from inside the car using the remote switch , a lot easier than hard wiring a switch in.

The leds in the final picture look blue but are in fact very white.

Thanks for your help.

That looks good mate (y)

Get some HID's and it'll look better rather than the yellow light from the standard headlights.

Hi Cymro good job mate i was thinking of the same mod a while back but just never got round to doing it. Is it possible for a close up pic of the led light on the car please. Thanks

Thanks, hope these pics are ok . To be honest I'm not really liking them much unlit , they look good from a distance but not too good close up.
I'm thinking of sticking some black pin striping too the top of it so as to hide the copper/gold coloured wiring inside the led strip.

Yeah it would be good if you could 'hide' the LED strips for day use. The do take away the look when you see them like that :p

I haven't looked myself but could you loosen the fog light and tuck them down between the bumper and fog light. Leaving them just proud so that when on they light up as the do just now?

Still at night they look good (y)

They look very good mate and nice and tidy. I see what you mean about the copper bit but its probably more noticable to you because you know its there, most people will see it when the cars moving. Plus with the switch you got it gives you the freedom to have them on without any other lights on which will look cool. So nice job and i bet many others will follow.
