Hi guys,

Are there currently any options to improve the speaker system on a brand new Bravo from the UK? I notice that some countries offer a speaker system upgrade with sub and better sound quality...

Would really go for this if available in UK, but don't remember seeing it as an option anywhere?

The only audio related options were the mp3 cd player (pretty useless when you have a usb port that can play mp3s =0))...

The HI-FI option can't be added, you had to buy it with the car.

Your only option is to go the aftermarket way, new speakers, amp and sub.

I agree the standard sound system sounds terrible.

Has anybody on here upgraded. i keep meaning to take and look and change the door speaker. Looks like the covers just pop off, although havn't tried yet (wifes car, she'd go mad).

I upgraded my sound system though I already had the HIFI option which has better speakers on all four doors and a sub in the boot all amped.
I upgraded the sub as you can see in my pics if you click on my sig.

THAT'S ONE BIG SUB SAT IN THE BOOT!!!!!

I have to disagree with the statements about the sound system being terrible, the one i have which is the standard one can go very loud and have a lot of bass if i want it on there, someone asked about not being able to get the sound system over level 10 and didn't realise it could go louder and had options to change the sound settings through set ones or your own choice through the graphic Equalizer.
Could it be that no one has tried the settings to change the sound quality,or is it that most only want big subwoofers and very loud bass sounds.

How old are you?

Edit: Never mind, I checked your profile.

My father would think a cellphone has too much bass.

It's all about how you like your music, most people younger than you would think the standard Bravo stereo is crap.

I think that even the hifi option with the sub is crap. I'm used to much better quality, power.

ok, i got mine on tuesday and it took until today get it sounding ok.

i turned the EQ off presets (so not on rock, jazz etc) and then set bass to +7 and treble to +9 and its sounds ok. It doesnt sound fantastic.

However, if the stilo was anything to go by, the speakers are actually ok, and its just the head unit thats pants. I had plans to upgrade the lot in the stilo but only needed to change the head unit to a kenwood one. I wont be planning on changing the headunit as i will lose blue and me and steering wheel controls, and as it sounds now i can live with it, but if i had an active i would rip out the head unit and put my kenwood in

Oh well at 42 i must be old:(, i am sorry but i cannot stand it when all you can hear is boom boom boom coming from a car with its window down to make sure everyone hears the sounds,i like all sorts of music and yes i like it loud sometimes but not to the point where i cannot hear another person speak in the car which is what the majority of younger drivers seem to want to do.
Sorry if i seem like a boring old fart but hey its only my opinion(y)

I'm young and still think the Bravo sound system is perfectly acceptable. It's a car, not a stereo - I listen while I drive.. I don't drive while I listen.

I agree.......The sound is more than enough for general driving ......

The only gripe i have is that the auto volume thingy is crap even with it set at the lowest number 1 it still ramps up far too much for the given speed.....so I have turned it off and just use the controls on the wheel instead

my kenwood HU cost £400 5 years ago and was actually in my Ibiza before stilo complete with speaker upgrades in the ibiza.

the bravo hu does have a bit of noise on it, but now i got my settings right, everything from new order, the smiths, to pink floyd, black sabbath to the ting tings to curtis mayfield is sounding ok, not fantastic, but ok.

to be truthful there is high end hiss that wont go away and the bass is to prominant, and not enough mid range and no adjustment for mid on the HU. Plus on the settings the dealer had it on it made the reaer door cards rattle.

dont get me wrong i want it to sound better- however i mostly listen to music in the house on a very expensive seperates system and on vinyl. (spent about £200 on new albums on vinyl in sept :( ) and like hellcat says, its there for listening to whilst driving.

I could have a 2k top of the range system and it wouldn't make too much difference - too many rock concerts and loud bikes kind of killed my higher range hearing:D

go on, add a sub and make jo whiley sound like barry white!!! :slayer::slayer:

Seriously, My opinion is that the sound quality is terrible, as bad as in an astra. I don't like to go for maximum bass, if you run a sub I believe it shouldn't be set so you can tell, just used to help push through the underlying bass tone without deepening the tones. i went to halfrauds to see if there were any speakers to use as a direct replacment, the guy in there showed me some non-direct replacement speakers, he was amazed at how "good" they sounded. It was terrible, no mid range at all, all bass, sounded horrendus.

As for decent enough for driving, maybe i'd agree if it our's wasn't a diesel
