re: Skydome Q&A

I went to the local dealership today to get some papers for my gf's new 500 and as i was there i saw a new bravo with the skydome on but it had plates on which meant that it was someone's car. So i asked inside if it was possible for me to check it out and they said it was the bosses car so yes i could see it. Well i got inside and OH MY GOD, it was awesome!!! Cant wait to put the order and have it delivered. Unfortunately it will take at least one month before i can put the order and another 2-3 months beofre the car is delivered the way i want it...

All that waiting sucks... can't you find another dealer and see if they have a car that fits your choice in stock?

re: Skydome Q&A

I can have a better deal from him. But anyway the way i want it, it is a bit difficult to have it ready unless someone wanted exactly the same and then opted out of bying.
If all goes well i will order it with:

re: Skydome Q&A

Yes it does but the way i want it, it a little improbable to have it ready unless someone wanted it exactly the same way and then opted out.
Here is the way i want it:
1.5 sport tj 150
red maranello
dark tinted windows
skydome
blue&me
hi-fi interscore with sub

re: Skydome Q&A

I'll have exactly the same, but why the tinted windows? They make the car uglier IMO (unless it is black). But on a red one...nah. It looks like a dark spot, drawing your attention on it...

Is the skydome tinted?

Unless i am mistaken yes the skydome is tinted. I just like it with tinted windows ;-)

re: Skydome Q&A

As I said in the very first post, the skydome glass is tinted and protects very well from the sun.

sorry to disagree lyubohar, the car looks gorgeous with the factory tinted windows, especially the rear which looks a lot better than a normal bravo.

click on my sig to see for yourself.

re: Skydome Q&A

I did, and I also checked a lot of other pictures and real cars on the street.

Sorry, but to me it still looks like a dark spot, put in the wrong place and distracting you from the looks of the car. It goes fine with black color, but not with a light colored hatchback.

It looks great when the car is looked from behind though. I agree on that. But from the side...If it was legal to tint the driver's and passenger's window, it would be a different story.

re: Skydome Q&A

when you make the roof that heavy, you add body roll (when cornering fast the car's body tilts due to centrifuge).

Sorry to bring you back to this, but I still can't make my mind on the skydome :)

Have you really noticed any bodyroll during normal driving conditions? I mean, it's not like most of us use the cars for racing. I would probably very rarely (if ever) have to make a fast corner, so should I care then. Even if I do, the ESP will probably take care of this...

Thanks...

Now a few bits about Skydome - I got it with my 150HP T-JET Sport in Maranello Red. Have some photos on hand and I'll put them on the forum in a few minutes - have tinted rear windows, skydome, automatic climate controll and bi-xenon lights. I'm absolutely IMPRESSED with the skydome and so is everyone who've seen the car. My personal advice is the same as Tad-bravo's - GO FOR THE SKYDOME - it's worth it. Second personal advice - go for bi-xenon lights aswell!

Give me few minutes for the photos ;-]

Yep Tad-bravo :)
And a boot electric socket aswell ;-)
Have a look in my gallery - there are few photos of my Nuova Bravo.
I love the look of the car with tinted windows in Maranello Red. Photo attached ;-)

Great car, PeterMmX. Maranello red is my second choice (next to white), but I find it too common for my very individualistic taste :) But still, great looking car!

Since you have the Sport version - the same I am ordering next week - have you noticed any body roll due to the increased weight at the top?

What are the 3 opening stages?
1. tilt the back of the glass up
2. open glass half way
3. open the glass all the way

And do the runners have to be maintained (greased etc) at all?

Yes, need to be greased about every 6 months for me (sunny country). when the grease dries out, it's slower to open and more noisy.
There's also maintenance for the water drain pipe but I never had to do it, it's still clear.

And can it be operated with the cars remote key like the windows  :)

Nope, if you leave it open and lock the car remotely, the roof stays open anyway. Fiat could have done better in that regard.

Not just noisy, mine stopped completely after two years of usage (and no greasing), so I had to get it fixed...No permanent damage was done, but it cost me 150+ EUR.

So yes, greasing is essential, even in not so sunny country. I now do it each spring before the new skydome "season" :)
