Might buy a new Bravo

As much as I love my Grande, I fear my gearbox will not make it into 2009 and thus want to get shot of it.

I'm liking fiats right now, have my eye on a 1.4 starjet bravo dynamic.

Question is, will it feel underpowered? I drove the 1.4 16v GP sporting which didnt feel particularly quick compared to my 1.2 GP active (strange i know).

Anyone know how it feels in the bravo as I'm yet to test drive.

Good/Bad points about the bravo?

If you are looking for performance then why not go for the 1.4 T-Jet sport (150Bhp)?

Firstly the 150Bhp has excellent performance but if still not happy then try a re-map to get even more ommph out of it.

I wish, I'm 19

The highest quote I could find for a tjet bravo was just over £7,000

Tjets/Mjets are insurance group 11, and 1.4 active/dynamic are insurance group 4.

If i was buying a £600 car, insurance group 11 wouldnt be a problem but a 8-9k bravo and no-one wants to know, including my wallet

Re: Might buy a new Bravo

I personally feel the 1.4 is underpowered and does not provide enough economy to make up for it. But thats me.

If insurance is the issue what about the 120 T-Jet. It's only 30bhp more but 80MN more torque. Significantly quicker car. Same tax band and same claimed economy figures.

Think it's one of the forgotten engines in the line up.
Shame as it's the best compromise of power and economy without resorting to diesel.

Re: Might buy a new Bravo

Go for one of the diesels!!!! They are sooooo good!! And get the sport pack, it makes the interior much nicer even though the standard interior trim is good!

Insurance groups..

Petrols
1.4 Starjet IG 4-5
1.4 120bhp T-Jet IG 7
1.4 150bhp T-Jet IG 10

Diesels
1.6 120bhp IG 6-7
1.9 120bhp IG 7
1.9 150bhp IG 10

So you have option for 1.4 120bhp or a 1.6/1.9 120bhp multijet for only a couple of IGs higher.

you forgot the 105 1.6 which has plenty of power!! If you are testing the Bravo definatly take a diesel out for a drive!! You won't be disappointed!!!

Stoopid Parkers data isn't upto date - didn't include the perfectly good 105bhp 1.6

i have the 90, and have just had a punto for several days as a Courtesy car, i was very glad to be back in the bravo, it is so much more of a car.

while the 90bhp can be slow its more than up to it, just did a thousand miles in it while on holiday and for such a small engine in a big car it performs great, it was fully loaded with holiday kit inc roof boot, wife and two kids and never missed a beat, up some hills i was dropping gears, but it pulled very smoothly all the way to 6k (when wanted) it was more than a match for a 1.6 bmw 1 series i was following, at times i was having to slow down because the lead car could just not pick up any speed! for the little motorway driving i did 300 ish miles it was very happy sitting at 70-80..
