Engine Judder

Hi Guys,

I have been having a bit of a problem with my car and just wondering if anyone else has experienced it too.

When I begin to accelerate, I experience engine judder, like a flat spot, when in mostly 2nd and 3rd gear.

When ever I get to about 2000 revs the engine judders and when accelerating a lot of black smoke comes from the exhaust. Also, when the engine is in neutral there is a ticking noise as if it were a loose belt or something in the engine.

I have a Bravo 2007 1.9 multijet 120bhp, and it has only recently started doing it since about 23k miles. I recently had it service once 19k miles came along.

I know no one can fix it over a web forum unfortunetly but, there muct be some smart person out there who would know what I am trying to say at least??

Will the local Fiat garage fix the problem under warranty or will I have to fork out a load of money to get this fixed??? It's really annoying and afraid that after buying a new car that I will be driving along one day and it just, stops!

Re: Engine Judder

Get it to your dealership. It still lies in the manufacturers warranty so why would you expect to shed out any money?
Are you soing mainly short journeys (guessing not by your given mileage), but it might be that it needs a good run and higher revs.

Re: Engine Judder

does any warning light stay on on the dashboard after starting the engine?

if your car is still under warranty then they will fix it for you, no charge.
the only way you gonna pay is if they can prove you caused the problem, they will certainly check your fuel filter and tank for wrong fuel, if they find that for example then you'll pay.

Re: Engine Judder

Hi

I have the exact same problem only I have my engine re-maped it is only a slight judder when in 4th -6th gear under hard accelaration. I also have that small ticking noise from my engine as well and I have it booked in to have it checked out. It sounds like tappets on an old car........even if I rev the car a wee bit it is still there

Re: Engine Judder

Will they realise that yor engine is remaped? If so you might loose the warranty over the engine.
Keep us informed please.

Daniel.

don't get to worked up over this, it can be something very simple and quick like a jammed filter or fuel pump, just get it fixed asap and don't drive to much with it.

Don't drive it to much, grim scity that's going to be hard because I love my car. But got it booked in today so I shall let all you Bravo People what my problem was.

Thanks Tad-Bravo, Legend!

Re: Engine Judder

You're welcome, and keep us posted on what was the problem. I have the same engine as you, so it'd be good to know.

Re: Engine Judder

Well as promised I would give my fellow Bravo Commrades an update on what was happening with my car, the place could only fit me in on Wednesday 10th which was grand, but driving up the road to work this morning and then next thing

BEEP BEEP BEEP "check engine check engine" and I began to lose power, my thoughts are that the turbo has gone, though I don't know as I am not a mechanic, anyways going to phone them as soon as they open and I am hopefully going to get this sorted ASAP

Again keep you all posted!!!

Re: Engine Judder

what did I say? don't drive it too much...

I'm glad garages here aren't b*tchy like they are over there, when something's wrong with my car it gets taken care of the same day.

Re: Engine Judder

Im keen to find out what this is!!!

My grande used to judder exactly the same however never had any other issues with engine management lights etc.

Was in the garage half a dozen times with fiats bods even taking a gander. Never found what was up with it.

Did my head in over time so got rid of said beastie.

Re: Engine Judder

Well guys I got my car back and it's running as smooth as it was before.. AWESOME

Yes, I know Tad-Bravo, you said not to drive, but I had no other car and needed to get to work.

Anyway, the problem was a cracked pipe (not sure if it was rubber or metal) that connected up to the turbo and resulted in to much air intake, hense the engine judder. So nothing to heavy, but still took them ages to fix and not only that that's the 3rd time I have left my car into the dealer (Mervin Stewart Belfast) and they didn't even give my car a clean, which most places that I know of do.
RAGING!!

Anyways guy hope you enjoyed my thread as much as I did and Tad, thanks for the help!

Laters!
