(T) Noisey Tappets

2007 Bravo Active Sport!

I've booked the Bravo in to my local dealership on Saturday to sort out a noisey tappet problem that has started over the past week.

I am getting the annoying 'ticking' sound regularly but not all the time. Also seems to vary in level of sound. I can one minute hear it as I drive down the road the next the engine is silent then 10mins later again it's back again

Any ideas if it's a simple oil change to solve it or whether it could be a bigger problem? Sorry I'm not mechanically minded but I let my mechanic friend listen to it who right away said it was the tappets. But I neither know what could cause it or how to solve it?

Also is it ok to drive for the rest of the week until I take it in to the dealership on Saturday morning?

I am glad somone wlse has noticed this problem I too notice a very tapety sound from the engine and just thought it was a FIAT thing but maybe not My engine has only 16000 miles on it 1.9 150 M/jet

Well I done a full oil change on the car and since then the tappets have been silent

I noticed that my oil was right on the minimum mark on the dipstick when I checked it before changing (it was just below half way between min' and max' when I checked the previous week) so maybe it was due to the oil starting to get near it's minimum amount.

I checked all the engine for leaks etc but nothing and now after 2 days the engines is fine and oil level is the same after oil change

It's still booked in for Saturday anyway and i'll let the dealer have a look to see if there's anything else. I also need them to replace my sun visor anyway after it just landed in my lap last week whilst driving
