The reason you should remap lol

i know these are on different parts of the forum but i thought I would put them all in one place

first off this is the car standard doing a 40-90 4th gear roll on. It takes approx 14 secs

Then this is the car after i got it remaped @ 196 bhp it takes approx 8.8 - 9 secs. Again 4th gear roll on 40 -90mph

Now this is a 0 - 60 time after she was remaped I have used a video editing software to try and get the time I reckon its 6.8 secs and I think I could knock a few mills of that as the road was cold and dry with damp patches. It also helps if you run the car on diesel fumes as you can see it is about to run out lol. WIVES never ever put diesel in cars, mine thinks the diesel pixie's put it in

the 0 to 60 is very impressive, I wonder how my 1.9 multijet will do after the remap.

any idea what settings they put in your remap?

sorry not a clue ... it took the chap 3 hrs to d/l the standard maps from the chip and 15 mins to remap it .. he says he could give me another 20 bhp but the standard turbo and clutch would never last. and with the car only 11 months old fiat dealer might smell a rat if im going in every few months for new clutch and turbo PMSL

i live in nrothern Ireland so I doubt I will be any use to you . But there are plenty of remap places around the UK. Mt remap cost me 200 quid. i wouldnt spent 500+ on a superchip not worth it IMO

Nice!

Try looking up Red Dot Racing in the Search function on here or just search for Remap

Re: The reason you should remap lol

Yeah sorry I did find mention of Red Dot elsewhere on the forum after posting this (I'm in S London so not a million miles away).

Don't have it yet but just waiting to take delivery of a pre-registered 1.9 MJet Sport - Digital Grey rather than preferred choice of Maranello Red () but at £13k with delivery miles only, couldn't really find reason to complain cos it still looks good!

Not quite as manic as the Impreza it replaces but still not too shabby and mildly more economical!!!

Quite agree but for some reason acceleration isn't good enough for i am only guessing this, street racing.
As i have said before 150BHP and top speed of over 130mph at 8.5 8.2 on over boost is more than adequate on todays roads, there are so many speed cameras around where i live that you are lucky to go over 50mph without getting a fine, but i suppose those who have a lot of adrenaline and not worried about the possibility of getting caught will always want to go faster and faster, plus the warranty getting void at some point.
Still all to there own.

Re: The reason you should remap lol

Bluebravo, there are other benefits that come with remaps, improved economy, better driveability. It also increases torque so motorway overtaking is more relaxed. It is not about the 0-60 times (for me) as burning my clutch out after 10 attempts to get under under 7 seconds wouldn't prove beneficial' I have been involved in a bike accident which buggered both my legs and while I have been declared fit for driving anything that will remove the need for gearchange frequency is also a bonus

1st off its not about racing its about as was said above , safer overtaking fuel economy isnt any better but it isnt any worse unless you are mashing the pedal all the time.

As for my utubes of the 0-60 they aremearly a demo of how much difference a remap makes to the car you will also see the 40-90 ingear tests to show the improvement from standard to remaped car. I am long past being the boy racer at my age......

as for making your warrenty void its pure tosh........ they cant tell as there is no actual chip replacment. i have a friend who is the supervisor mechanic in a local ford dealership he says they dont care they just send the clutch or turbo away , and replace it under warrenty, basically they dont give a rats backside all they are interested in is getting the money for the warrenty work. He told me there are cars in all the time they know have been remapped by young boy, racers and they still replace the parts. Sure, if you are in every few months looking for new cluthces that will set off alarm bells but for me I do like the acceloration, but I do love the 6th gear ump I have for over taking without droping agear..........

this is my opinion and we will differ in that !!!!!!!!

Can tell & ford dont have the PTR report system which monitors all faults with new models,Fiat do & full information from the vehicle is sent to Fiat & inspected.Unlike ford, Fiat work close with their technicians.
