Light stearing feel

The electric powered stearing on the bravo I find to be very vauge when at high speeds there isnt very much feedback from it. My last car was an A4 130 sport tdi lowered and 18" rims on she handled well and the car before that wasa focus zetec both where good handling

If I put on a set of good quality lowering springs will this help with the handling and give me more feedback????

has any one just added lowering springs 40 mm and is there any differance

thanks

Darren

Re: Light stearing feel

don't feel much difference on lower springs..maybe just slightly stiffer. best way to have a tighter feel will be adding struts, anti roll bar and adjusting your camber

Re: Light stearing feel

try to switch off the dualdrive yes the Bravo's steering feels really soft comparing to other cars. I was shocked driving Bravo for the first time but quickly accustomed to it and now I am relishing the dualdrive especially driving town. Moreover, driving others I am shocked how stiff they are

IMHO, lowering is not of a much help, probably only wider wheels, 18" and more but it brings also other cons.

Re: Light stearing feel

At high speed you don't put a lot of steering input in so light steering shouldn't be an issue. It's not causing me a problem 20,000 miles into ownership. I think the ride could be improved but it would need about £500+ worth of investment on the springs and dampers.

The only issue I have with driving the Bravo is the thickness of the A pillar causing a blindspot when aproaching some roundabouts. It'll be the same for any modern, safe car so not exactly something to jump ship because of.

Re: Light stearing feel

I also find the lightness of steering wheel a bit anoying. Although I think, it gets a bit harder at higher speed as it electronicaly controled servo motor. But a bit of more hardness wouln't hurt. I like it better on the tipo, where is is hardly noticable, that it is hydraulicaly assisted. I believe it can be harder to stear, if the servo motors parameters change (like the with sport button with the sport version) ?

Re: Light stearing feel

Isn't it just? If I drive the Bravo after the Tipo I nearly throw it off the road as the steering is SO different!

Re: Light stearing feel

I'm sure the bravo will be much worse being newer but i found my Marea's steering far too light for me.

although i never directly attacked the issue its been vastly improved with 215/40 tyres, lowered suspension and strutbrace

i noticed a massive difference when i popped the original 195/55 wheels on for a temp period.

maybe not really viable options though unless you were looking to modify your Bravo...

Mines already on 225/45/17s... Think 255/35/18s could be a bit mad for a FWD car

Re: Light stearing feel

I was only joking

But it is weird, i am coming from a ford focus and an MG TF135 and id say the bravo handles similar to the focus, maybe slightly lighter. I love it, the MG was just raw!
