Bravo T-Jet 150 engine break-in (run-in)

Hi,

I was wondering, does the T-Jet 150 need a break-in period ? Did anyone read something about it in the car's manual ?

I found a guy on a forum who received a letter from Fiat's officials stating that a run-in is not needed:

http://bravo.clubdiscussion.net/engi...needed-t85.htm

It states "all Fiat engines are run in before being sold". Do they mean the spin the engine some time before fitting in on the car ?
So, does the engine need a break-in period or not ?

Re: Bravo T-Jet 150 engine break-in (run-in)

Hi mate,

Nowadays, most manufacturers state that there is no run in period required due to better/stronger technology and more precise engineering.

HOWEVER!

I generally give all of my new cars 500 to 1000 miles of my own running in. Ie
No red-line
Use mid range revs
No harsh cornering, braking (unless necessary) or accelerating.

Strictly its not necessary, but things like suspension and breaks will loosen up and settle over time, and it gives you the chance to find anything that may be loose/ rubbing before your hitting 5k rpm and the consequences could be worse.
