Gearbox whine and overheating brakes!!

I Got my self a Bravo Dynamic 120 Tjet on test drive for 3 days. Has anyone else experienced a whine while in first and second gear almost like a reverse gear whine?.

Also I did some 'spirited' driving and after a very short time I could smell burning brake pads. Stopped the car (no loss of brake function at all) but the brakes were smoking heavily!. The car had 700miles on it so should be enough for the brake to bed in.

Re: Gearbox whine and overheating brakes!!

How old is it?

It may have sat on the Dealer's forecourt for a while causing the brakes to bind a little, especially if it's got alloys (with all this rain we've had).

The whine is probably the turbo...

Nope this is strictly when off boost too. I know what a turbo sounds like . This is like a whiny drone "from the gearbox" not the spooling of a turbo.

And the car was a demonstrator which is used very frequently.

Re: Gearbox whine and overheating brakes!!

IV got that same whining noise but only in second gear on my 150 Diesel I did post a tread on this site but to be truthful I thought I was the only one experiencing this problem and yes I was told it may be turbo boost but it’s not that sort of noise is it my friend? I have took it back to Bostons my main dealer they acknowledged the noise and he said FIAT would say (LIT) Let it develop which is small consolation but I thought it worth registering the fault just in case,
I did leave the problem with them I’ll let you know how it goes

Oh have a look at my latest tread, oh joy a strange fault

Regards Kelvin W
