Re: Double Din Stereo

How did you get a 12" sub in the boot connected to the standard headunit??

Or do you just have it sitting there taking up space?

Re: Double Din Stereo

I wired a 4 channel 600 watt Pioneer amp to the wires that are going into the standard amp.

the standard amp is located inside the subwoofer and was a pain to reach.

note : all the speakers in the car are powered by the tiny amp in the standard subwoofer in the hifi equiped cars.

the 12" sub is working great and I finally have the kind of sound I'm used to. the standard sub really is crap.

Re: Double Din Stereo

second note : I tried replacing the front speakers but I gave up, they're riveted to the door!

the sound is decent with the standard hifi speakers so it's ok, only the sub needs replacing.

good luck if you don't have the hifi option and want to upgrade the speakers!

Re: Double Din Stereo

can you remove the front door speakers cover and take a photo of the speaker?
maybe they're different in a non-hifi car.

just pull the cover that is over the speaker (pull the front side of the grille, the area that is bent)

Re: Double Din Stereo

No idea...think I'm just gonna struggle on with the standard speaker setup since I have no way of getting a sub and amp!

Now if only I had waited and actually specced a car, I'd have had the upgraded stereo

For how to change the riveted-in standard speakers take a look at this guide which Capt. Chaos did for his Grande.

With his assistance I also replaced the front speakers in my Grande. Drilling the pop rivets out wasn't all that difficult at all.

I replaced the factory speakers with Infinity ones and pop riveted them in:

Cheers,
BD

Re: Double Din Stereo

Shame the spec'd up stereo wasn't available here... i miss the bass something chronic... and im not in the mood to tamper with the system as the Blue&Me works flawlessly and makes life ALOT easier when out an about.

Does the SatNav unit that is in the Italian version of the bravo have pre-outs for subs?

Re: Double Din Stereo

Can you tell me, in details, how you removed the stock radio? I want to put a CarPC in, and I want to measure the space it has.

Thanks

Re: Double Din Stereo

buy removal keys

insert removal keys into the slots on the front of the radio

hear a click

pull stereo out with the removal keys

unplug cables

Job done.

Removing the cage however is a wee bit more complicated as you need to unscrew it from the rear of the cage which involves removing the central mount.

Re: Double Din Stereo

You can buy the keys from your fiat dealer for apporx 7 quid.

Failing that any car stereo place can remove it for you for a small fee

Do a search. Both on here for the thread that gives some links to websites that sell the facia's but also on Ebay. There were a few listed on there last week when I looked.
