Re: New Bravo owner

I only had one drive in a Stilo and the handling was shocking, but thats cause one of the wheels was wobbling! lol

But I suspect that the Bravo will handle alot better...especially the Sport!

besides, you still need to install a real amp wiring kit for the remote lead and power.

I'll check if the standard amp is easy to remove and if it has the necessary wires going ino it, this information is just what my brother told me.

I wouldnt expect the original amp would provide enough power for an aftermarket sub which is alot more powerful that the 260W thats included with the upgraded speaker kit.

Thats if there even is an amp...power may just be sent from the headunit!

Re: New Bravo owner

Dj doogz, I agree completely that's why I will have to just rip the standard stuff out and put new equipment with its own wiring.

as for the handling, it handles very well. ESP does its part of the job at high speed cornering.

didn't test top speed yet.

Re: New Bravo owner

yeah I'm expecting to have to run cables...as soon as I find out if there is a pre-out!

But a gold star for the first person to also figure out how to run a power cable from the battery through the bulkhead! lol

Oh and I've had mine at a speedo reading of 125mph on a test track. But i reckon you're talking closer to 115mph in reality. It could have kept going but I chickened out! lol

Re: New Bravo owner

Okay we now have confirmation from someone who has removed the standard head unit, there is no pre-out!

Looks like I'll eventually have to fit a new stereo and lose B&M at the same time!

Re: New Bravo owner

you don't need to do that, you can take the audio signal from the speakers wires.
if the amp you gonna use doesn't have speakers input then you can use an adapter (I don't know how it's called exactly) that turns speakers signal into amp inputs.

don't remove the standard HU or you'll regret it as you'll have trouble making the steering wheel controls work with an after market HU and a bunch of other equipments that have nothing to do with the sound system will also stop functioning.

Re: New Bravo owner

Re the wiring of the amp.......

I have removed my factory sub/amp and installed my own sub and amp.

In the connector block that connects to the factory fit sub, there is a

Remote
+12v
Negative
Audio output

SO in theory, you could run a separate amp/sub just by splicing into the existing wiring.....HOWEVER!!--- (and its a big however) the standard wiring is very small gauge, and as such would not be capable of running a powerful after market sub/amp. The fiat sub/amp is very small and low output in comparison, and as such only draws low ampage. If you put anything bigger on the wiring, you risk melting it and setting fire to your car!!! SO(2).... in my temporary set-up, i have used the Audio output and remote wires, but done my own earth and +12v 4guage wire as you would a normal sub/amp set-up.

I am reluctant to remove my factory HU due to Blue+Me and other things being run through the HU.

Oh and Tad-Bravo ---- Welcome to bravo ownership! And definately go for the remap! You will NOT be disappointed!

Alan

Re: New Bravo owner

RE a new HeadUnit...captain chaos has posted today about a new kenwood HU that he has fitted that allows the steering wheel controls to be used with an adapter.

As for wiring a sub using existing wiring...this is all assuming there is a pre-existing sub attached, or at least the wiring for one being there!

PLus you wont have any control over the Gain, etc without an external amp.

Re: New Bravo owner

Thanks a1ant, that clears things up about the sub.

Then I will still need to get decent front speakers with an additional amp as the standard ones are LAME!

I don't think it's a smart thing to get rid of the B&M and the standard look of the factory HU but i'd love to see some pics when you're done Dj Doogz !

Re: New Bravo owner

Oh I wont be doing it for a while! At least not until the warranty is up on the stereo! But does anyone know if the wiring is already there for the fiat sub in all cars? I know that the wiring could be found on some of the Mk2 Puntos even if they didnt have one as standard! :S

Its Captain Chaos who was already replaced the stereo with a double Din kenwood unit! Check out his thread!

But i do agree about the front speakers, they REALLY need replaced!

Re: New Bravo owner

What size are the front speakers? Would simply replacing them for a set of good speakers make a difference, or would an amp be needed to notice the difference? If i were to lets say (if they'd fit) put in a set if infinity 6x9's running off of the headunit would i notice it over the standards?
