48hr test drive - any joy ?

I registered interest in the 48hr test drive of the new Bravo that's currently being advertised on fiat.co.uk about a week ago and have heard nothing. Has anyone else had a similar experience or do they just not like me (or my credit score) ? - fools ! I would be paying cash if I bought one.

Re: 48hr test drive - any joy ?

I hadn't seen this but just rummaged round the FIAT website and found it. I would sign-up, but I think I've been black-listed by my local dealer! Shame really as I'm hoping to persuade my company to give me a car allowance and a Bravo 1.6 Eco would be near the top of my list.

Let us know how you get on...

If there's one thing you could say that would put a dealership off, that's it!

If you registered by sending your postcode to Fiat by SMS your mobile number and postcode will have been forwarded to your local dealership within 24hrs. It's then down to your dealership to call you, get the rest of your details and set up the 48hr test drive. I'm surprised they haven't done this, as the Fiat Zone Managers are jumping all over this and checking every day that all requests have been followed up.

Yeah I had this delegated to me for my branch. Checking it 3 times a day like a good little boy.

What are the conditions of the test drive?

Deposit, excess, miles allowed?

Thanks

Can't remember the specifics but there are a few. Most notable you have to be a home owner and I'm sure the excess is 500 notes.

Surprisingly few...

None, but a valid credit card must be provided so that the dealership can take the insurance excess in event of a claim.

100, with a penalty for every mile over that (although most dealerships will be discretionary with this bit)

Also, any fuel not replaced is charged at £1.50 per litre, so if you take it full bring it back full.

Really?

I thought it was just proof of address and photographic I.D (passport) as well as both parts of the driving licence?

Taken from the Fiat letter announcing the offer:

Main conditions
  • 21 years or over
  • Full driving licence
  • No more than 8 points running on the licence
  • Valid Photo ID (passport, etc)
  • Proof of the address
  • Credit card with sufficient funds for authorization to the amount of an excess of the insurance policy provided – this being the only accepted method of payment for the excess, unless otherwise agreed by individual dealer
  • The insurance policy excess is set at £500 for 21-25 year old customer and £250 for over 25 year old.
  • Charges apply to excess mileage at 0.45 p per mile over 100 miles limit
  • Daily charge of £60 for any period over agreed
  • Fuel charge of £1.50 per litre for any fuel used if not refilled
Doesn't say anything about having to be a home-owner.

Yeah I know the circular says nothing about that.
Was my GM that said it. Thought he must have said it for a reason.
