(G) Safety lock

Hi folks,

I have noticed in user manual that when remotely locking a car by pressing twice the lock button it shall activate the safety lock which will lock the car also from inside. This safety lock doesn't work for me but honestly I even don't know if my car is equipped with the safety lock (manual says it's an option). So before I go to a car service to let them look at this, how can I recognize that the safety lock is there? Is there any other chance how to recognize that my car has the safety lock?

Secondly, during last summer I was oftenly using a very smart thing - if pressing the locking or unlocking buttons on the remote control unit for a while the front windows go up resp. down. I have read somewhere that this also works when using a key. I checked this but it doesn't work for me. This feature works only using the remote control unit. Could you please check with your key?

The feature you're referring to is called deadlocking. Most cars should have this feature as standard but to be honest I haven't tried it out on my Bravo. To test it out sit inside your car - ideally in the back in case it senses you're sitting in the car (front seats have pressure sensors). Then deadlock your car and try to open it using the internal door handle. If you can open it then the deadlocks aren't active.

The second feature is in the manual. If you hold the lock button on the fob for 2 seconds it will lock the doors and do up all of the windows. If you hold unlock for 2 secs it will unlock the car and open all of the windows. My Bravo definately does that.

ad deadlock: tried as you described and found out the deadlock is not activated in my Bravo 1,4 Dynamic. I called my dealer to confirm this via VIN code too. Have been told this feature is not available for my car appointment in our country

ad windows motion: yes it works as you have written but I meant if this also works when you use the standard (spare) key in lock, i.e. if locking or unlocking car manually with the spare key will trigger the windows? I tried with my key and it doesn't work. So can you check it?

No deadlocks? That's a rather poor show given that the Bravo doesn't have an alarm as standard as well. So a crim can break your window without attracting attention from a siren and then open the doors without prevension from deadlocks. The insurance companies don't seem to mind though, I got an excellent price on insurance.

I very much doubt the windows will open/close using the spare key in the door, but I will try it next time I remember.
