Clutch pedal - metalic clang

I didn't notice anything wrong with my clutch until I collected my car from my dealer after some non-mechanical repairs. When I push it down all the way (as per a normal gear change) it hits the floor and emits a moderately loud metallic clang sound - like metal against metal.

I know nothing about the mechanics of the pedal but if there was a piece of rubber on it before I went to the garage - acting as a dampener - then it's now missing.

Before I go back and complain like a paranoid perfectionist (I think they already hate me!) does everyone else have an almost silent experience with their clutch pedal?

Thanks.

Re: Clutch pedal - metalic clang

I know nothing of Bravos, but clutches should be silent: period.

Re: Clutch pedal - metalic clang

Mine is quiet, but then I'm not surprised there are metallic clangs, having noticed the brake lash up under the dashboard whilst installing a hidden 12v socket for my satnav!

There is what seems to be a bit of scaffold pole (unpainted, complete with messy welds) connected to the brake pedal transferring the effort to the master cyclinder which obviously has not been moved for the RHD conversion!

Not sure it's the same arrangement for the clutch (not even sure if it's cable or hydraulic)

New 2008 Fiat Bravo! Typical! Get someone to press the pedal down while you look underneath to see where it is hitting. I think this will be the least of your problems as this car is based on the Stilo chassis. Be very careful with speed bumps as the front suspension was prone to collapsing, the electric power steering (Dual Drive or is it Dire Drive) fails all the time (£800+ to fix in Stilo). I think Fiat are still using the American made units. And suspect the battery for ANY electrical problems( very current sensitive!) Thank goodness you have a warrenty.. I am not bitter I' m just a Fiat owner!
(Not for Long!)
