Re: Is this normal ?

It's cast iron isn't it? Iron when exposed to the open environment will get a surface coating of rust. Pretty sure that's perfectly normal.

Re: Is this normal ?

Very true. If it's cast iron it will develop a patina of rust. Perfectly normal and not a problem.

Re: Is this normal ?

Thanks guys, I will keep an eye on it though just to make sure, also meant to say that it does seem to be using quite a bit of coolant, it was topped up a couple of weeks ago, and now is below the min level line.

Re: Is this normal ?

Back to the dealer pronto. Shouldn't consume coolant at all, unless there is a leak.

Re: Is this normal ?

Just got back from the dealership and after a few hours spent on the car checking everything it apears that every thing is ok, that is only surface rust and nothing to worry about, and no leaks could be found anywhere.
Coolant level was topped up i was asked just keep an eye on the level for the next week or 2, and if it drops below minimum level during this time they will sort it out for me.

Re: Is this normal ?

The dealer had a look the next day? Lucky you. I'm having to wait 2 weeks for my dealer to have a look at my sound system. Brand new car and there's no sound from the stereo or Blue&Me. My mates had a good dig at me and the car - "It's a Fiat, what did you expect?". I was hoping to prove them wrong as the Bravo is supposed to be a new leaf for Fiat. That's what I thought.

Re: Is this normal ?

That is a problem with the dealer. If it is purely them needing to find time to help you then perhaps you should contact Fiat with the question if they find this is normal after buying a new car? I don't and neither does my dealer who sorted out the few niggles I had very quickly (same day).

They were very helpful at the dealership about this, i did say to them its probably me going over the top about nothing, but the service guy said to me it doesnt matter, its a new car and i have every right to be concerned, and if there is anything wrong they will make sure its put right, they even asked me if i would like to borrow a courtesy car or wait while they checked for me.
A very good dealership with the right attitude and nothing to much help out.
My mind is at rest now so i wont worry.
