Just had a look out of curiosity at some of the valuations if was thinking of part exing my Bravo and
Just as well i am going to keep it anyway

Re: Depreciation

How many have been for sale second hand? Not many I'd say.

Cheapest 1.4 Active on Autotrader right now is nearly 9 grand. I don't believe they can estimate depreciation on a new car. Pretending they know just makes them look foolish.

Re: Depreciation

checking the autotrader shows the new bravo is suffering typical fiat depreciation. end of the day its a fiat, every single fiat has high depreciation. that is why an equivalent vw is cheaper to buy, you pay a bit more in the price but you save a lot more when you sell.

that is the logic on which many people base their car purchase, and why cars with low depreciation sell so well. it affects fiat sales more than you would expect. it is even more true for alfa romeo, you can buy a BMW or audi or merc and it costs you a lot less even though the purchase price is higher.

currently 174 on autotrader, so there are loads of them on the 2nd hand market already. £8.5-9k will get you a pre reg (delivery mileage) 1.4active so i wouldnt buy a second hand one for the same price, god knows who is buying them, i suspect the sellers are having a difficult time selling.

you're still looking at £10k for a 1.9 dynamic or active sport with a couple of thousand miles, and £10.5k for a 1.4t sport with a couple of thousand miles.

Re: Depreciation

Yes but you probably get a good discount off the price of a new Bravo, (we did). Similar sized discounts are not available on other makes, so the overall difference between makes is a lot smaller than people are led to believe. Also, any resale value (especially trade ins) are greatly affected by the car you are getting next, if it is in demand and with a waiting list, you get less than for a car that they have got plenty of to shift.

Re: Depreciation

Sorry, but went shopping for a hatchback with my ex, looked at a 147 JTD and a Golf TDi. Big discount on offer from Alfa, next to nothing from VW. Just speaking from experience.

Re: Depreciation

this is a topic been discussed on here many times.
Put it this way, is brand new fiat cheap to buy? I dont think so, my Bravo will be just under 16K, but you do get more for your money. for the same amount of money you pay, and for the same spec. performance, between fiat and the frenchs, fords, etc, which one would you choose? most of us choose Fiat as we did, how about audi, vw, bmw? personaly, I will still choose fiat due to i love the brand and the design, but I went with my heart rather than my head, also I saw countless of golf, A3s on the motorway, and I want something different. So I come up with a solution, ppl buying brand new Fiats are stupid, crazy, mad whatever... but i love my car and I will never complain how much i lose when i sell my fiat coz I expected it.

i agree the spec difference is often noticable compared to toher brands. fiat like to throw plenty of spec at you without the need to pay for every single thing you want.
