Sport mode onto a non-Sport TJet 150 possible?

I was looking at the Bravo (Ritmo in Australia) at the dealers and I noticed a difference in the 2 different TJet 150 models that are offered. The Sport has the sport mode (Sport button), while the Emotion only has the Dual drive option (Steering wheel button) to lighten the steering. The brochure also states Sport mode is available in the Sport. I was wondering if it was possible to replace the dual drive option with the Sport mode on the Emotion spec model, considering they both have the TJet 150 engine?

I may be wrong but as far as i know its either one or the other, it isnt an option to have the sport mode put into the emotion version, which in the UK sounds like that is the Dynamic version.
If you want the Sport model features, better to just go for that, i know some things like rear electric windows and front armrest are not standard but if it is the sport button you are after then it is the sport version you should go for.

Re: Sport mode onto a non-Sport TJet 150 possible?

The Sport is $3000 more expensive than the Emotion and the pricing is slightly on the optimistic side already (they are not quite the value car that they are in the UK), plus the Emotion get most of the features of the Sport (including the arm rest and rear electric windows.). The only minus spec wise is the lack Stability and Traction Control, though that is suddenly now listed as an option, I am chasing the importer up on that one.

Anyway I was asking since they are using the same engine, then it may be a simple mod to the car (then again it may not). I was thinking it doesn't hurt to ask those that might be in the know.

Troy the sport button stiffens the steering and changes the throttle response which is ECU controlled so I would reckon no as I would think they use different ECU's.

Hey Troy,
How many models of Ritmo do you get in Oz?
We only have JTD and T-Jet.
JTD doesnt get sport mode but a dualdrive steering button instead. this isnt what you saw is it?
I thought you only got the Sport there too........

I also notice the Sport mode gives some extra torque as well (230Nm instead of 206Nm), and consequently slightly better acceleration. Well that is a bit of a bugger, but not unexpected really.

No we get 2 different trim levels, the lower spec is the Emotion which is something like the Dynamic spec in the UK but with a few extra bits, and also the Sport. Both are available with either the TJet or the JTD engines. Only the Sport TJet has the Sport mode.

As an aside I found out from Ateco today that stability and traction control is available on the Emotion as a factory order option for $650 extra.

The Vehicle Dynamic Control package is a must. ESP has saved my arse a few times.

I agree. It was just that I was expecting it to be standard, but I suppose having it as an option is better than not having it at all.

Troy, u could remap the ECU and it'll be faster than the Sport on SPORT MODE. The Sport basically adds more supportive seats, 17" wheels. SPORT button gives you 10 secs of added 24Nm Torque + heavier steering.

Non-Sport models suffers are slightly light steering. I have the Dynamic version and its a little light but you'll get used to it.

If you do purchase the T-Jet, go with 17" wheels. They handle a lot better on 17"s wheels.

With the remap ECU, I clocked 225kmh. 120kmh - 225kmh in 6th. Very happy with the performance!

Re: Sport mode onto a non-Sport TJet 150 possible?

The Sport would be nice, but at $37k on the road it is expensive. Probably beyond my budget.

Remapping would be difficult since it is very unlikely anybody knows anything about the current Fiat's here.

You could possibly remove your ecu and send it overseas to get it done. You'd be looking at 10 days without your car though.
