Has anyone wondered why the track names on your USB stick are shown on the instrument panel display rather than the stereo's own display? The stereo shows "Media Player" all the time which is a waste of LED pixels! The track name on the instrument panel is only shown when the track changes (for about 10 seconds) or if you rummage through the menus and ask it for a reminder.

Surely the media player should show the track name and cycle through the ID tags (artist, album) and the time into the track. It's much safer for the driver (no fiddly menus), is displayed constantly, and the passengers will be able to see the information too.

The second "quirk" (I think it's a quirk but you may disagree) is when you turn the ignition off and remove the key the stereo remains on. It would be more convenient if it turned itself off as it saves having to press the button for 2 seconds, otherwise it will drain your battery slightly if left on. I think the majority of manufacturers have the stereo turn off when the ignition is off or key is removed.

Maybe there's a hidden option to address the above 2 issues?

The last issue is either a bug or a fault in my stereo. Sometimes when I start the car from cold there's no sound from the stereo. The volume is up and mute is not active, but the radio, media player, and Windows voice is silent. Sometimes it comes suddenly after 2 minutes. Sometimes after 2 hours.

I haven't found a pattern to it so I'm stumped. Perhaps someone else has experienced this?

BTW, which Bravo model comes with the larger reconfigurable multifunction display? (Page 7 of the car's manual)

I had a problem where using the auto-off function the Stereo didn't actually switch off. Very wierd. I hosted a video of it on here somewhere. Suggest you use your phone to video it's bad behaviour before taking it to the garage - as you know it will stop doing it once it realises where it's at!

LOL the stereo auto turn off is in the menu system. Press and hold the menu key to access the advanced menu. The Bravo is set to leave on by default.

As for the media player display on the radio im afraid thats there to stay. This is due to the fact its actually not controlling any of the mp3 functionality, this is done by the windows media centre.

No way round it,

so on the bright side 1 of your 2 niggles can be fixed horrah(y)

thought so, my stereo automatically turns off when my ignition turns off. But when you turn on your ignition, you can have 2 modes: the first mode is to turn on the electronics, the 2nd mode is to turn on the motor. But when I want to turn off the ignition, it also automatically turns off the electronics. I think that's a shame because sometimes I'm just waiting for someone, then I would like to just turn off the motor instead of everyting :/

Thanks Captain Chaos. I haven't found the advanced menu yet, I'll try again. Yes, 1 out of 2 is good. :)

@Captain Chaos, I had a look but can't find this advanced menu that you mentioned. Are you talking about the menu button that sits between the headlight up/down adjustment buttons to the right of the stereo?

I found a function called "See radio" but have no idea what that does, so I turned it on anyway and still don't know what it does!

hold menu button on radio for at least 3 seconds, select up/down until you see IGN TIME,then left/right for 20min/ign off function.

Either You should hold the Menu button for a while or press it twice, i can't remember, but it has a double functionallity.

I have had this periodical issue too:

- Have You tried turning off the engine and then back on again?
(booting)

Please let me know if You solve this.

I have a query.... I'm sure when I test drove a new Bravo when I used the up and down buttons on the wheel, it scrolled through the radio preset stations! on my new Bravo, when I use these buttons it searches for stations instead of go through my presets. Any ideas?

@RichardH, I still get the intermittant lack of sound from the stereo and Blue&Me. Turning the ignition off and on doesn't help. Sometimes I just have to leave the car overnight and it works again the following day.

What annoyed me was being told I have to wait 2 weeks to bring the car in for the dealer to have a 2nd look at it. They said they can't help if the problem isn't actually happening at the time. So why can't I just turn up unannounced when the problem is happening, otherwise it could be months before they get to see the fault.

A follow up to the problem I reported 10 months ago when sometimes I get no audio at all from the car when I start it up. That's no MP3, radio, phone, or Mrs Bill Gates voice. I recently found that if I open the passenger side door (an inch is enough) the sound will come back on and stay on! How weird is that? The trick doesn't work if I open the drivers door, it has to be the front passenger one.

Bizarre.

Does anyone know if it's possible for the car's clock to take the time from the RDS radio instead of having to adjust it twice a year and whenever it loses time? It drifts a couple of minutes each month. Thanks.

I seam to be having the same problem with regards Stereo Sound, the other Morning the volume was set way up but still i could hear nothing. I can just see me trying to explain this to the dealer!!!!!

And Whilst we're at it has anyone noticed that if you have no memory stick active and see Radio active you don't get to see the Oil Presure displayed. Plug in a Memory stick and you loose the Radio station displayed in between the Instuments even though it's selected as active, but gain the Oil Pressure guage back!!!!!!!
