New exhaust but which set-up?

Ok, I contacted a local (recommended) custom exhaust centre yesterday and they got back to me today.

The guy quoted me £260 to install a duplex system like the one shown on the attached picture (of the Coupe) except with tips like the other picture attached.............

He also quoted me £45 to fit a universal back box of my choice (I pay for the back box from wherever I buy it from).

What do you think I should go for? Obviously the universal route is way cheaper but is there a reason for that? I.e. You get what yo pay for?

I basically ain't interested in performance gains etc I just want a more throaty/power/sporty type sound from the car. I don't want a burst your ear drum roar either though more a medium type level of sound.

Advice welcome before I book it in at the weekend.

Re: New exhaust but which set-up?

Im changing my back box to a full system this month because i want more noise. The back boxes are reasonably loud but only when you put your foot down, so maybe this is what your after?

If you decide on the back box im selling mine ( rage back box with fitting pipe )

Alex

Thanks for the offer but to be honest a back box isn't that expensive and I'd rather buy new. And i'm assuming you didn't remove the back box off a new Bravo so by the time I paid to get it to fit mine then I might as well stick a couple of extra quid to it and get a brand spanking new one of my choice.

Re: New exhaust but which set-up?

the rear bumper on the latest golf (mk5??) is in two parts..the black half can be taken off and you can fit the gti bottom etc. I had a look at the bumper on my dads Bravo and it kind of looks the same. The black bit at the bottom looks separate when you look at it closely..didn't examine it very much so I could be wrong. But if the black lower part of the bumper is interchangeable..then you could fit a TJet rear with the cut away for the exhaust and have an exhaust come straight out and would look much better than having to put it under the bumper!
