Protective film

My dad picked up his new Tango Red Bravo on Friday. It happened to be raining..but when we got it home he put in the garage and it dried off. We noticed that patches off the car where covered in what looked and felt like dry PVA glue. It was clear and solid..we tried to get it off but couldn't. the paint work was covered in swirl marks and was rough. Brought it back up to the dealership and spoke to the owner who looked at the car.

The stuff that is on the car is a protective layer that they apply to the car before transporting and it hadn't been taken off the car properly. Apparently some kind of "special liquid" is needed to remove it. So my dad is going back up to the garage on Monday to get it taken off. They don't do it at the garage so i'm guessing its done where the car is stored or where its brought in to the country. My dad has been asked to go with the driver to see what is going to be done and to ask whatever questions he wants and to put his mind at rest. Its meant to only take half an hour to get the stuff off.

Has anyone had this problem? Never happened to any car my dad has had!

Re: Protective film

We used to have a holding area in our town where cars would wait to be loaded onto ships. They all looked to be covered in a coating of what looked like wax. I'd imagine something would be put on to protect the car while in storage and transport.

If he's been offered to see what happens that's great. See if he can get some photos

Re: Protective film

Definatley sounds like the transport wax they use.
TFR can take it off but only little bits. If your dads has enough to look like PVA then they will need the proper stuff they use to remove it. I seem to recall its a type of acid.
