Right had a customer come back because he can't get his Samsung mp3 player to work with the car.

I've plugged it in with the car switched off and running and the problem is the same. All that happens is the car starts charging the mp3 player. When I go into media player I get the no media found error.

Is there something obvious we are both missing?

I get this with my I-POD, it starts charging, but as you say the audio feature in the car tells me no media found:confused:, Is the audio unit of the car the one with the MP3 label on it or the standard version, wondering whether this is having anything to do with it.

Yeah it's the standard unit. As found in the Dynamic.

To be honest I'm at a loss. It's usually me everyone comes to to show them how to work all the toys.

Just found this entry in the forum over at fiats uk site:(

If you have an Apple iPod, the Blue&Me system won't play your music as iTunes playlists (I think it's because B&M was developed by Microsoft, Apple's competitor). The voice recognition does however allow you to call up artists etc, but you then have to scroll through them using the steering wheel controls - not really practical if you're driving!. I find it simplest just to say "Play anything" to B&M - this means you have no manual scrolling to do and the system in effect plays a random shuffle of ALL the music in your player. Not ideal...

If you have a look over at fiats uk site in the forum there seem to be quite a few people with problems regarding all this, not just the Bravo either.

i am having thiis problem with a usb stick. When i plug it in it plays the same album every time. I can also go to the menu and select play anything and the system will play all the tracks on the device in random order. however, if i go to try and select a folder or artist the system just says, "no media found" every time!!!! VERY ANNOYING.

I'm just getting the no media with everything I try. It's like the car just can't see the MP3 player.

Customer comes in tomorrow to pick her MP3 player back up and so I can show her how it works.

Not sure what I'm gonna do.

Not sure if this will work, probably not knowing sods law but another bit of info i found at FIATS forum, worth a go if you havent tried -

"I decided to try some buttons on the steering column and pressed the 'main' button. It shows telephone directory and also media player! Choose media player and using the scroll buttons, I found my music folders, albums by artists and could even choose to play a particular track or random etc! I haven't tried if voice command works aswell, just taking this one step at a time and next will be connecting my mobile to B&M."

I will see if i can find any other info out from other sources just in case there might actually be a cure.

Right had one last go before she comes in. Tried it in a few different cars, bravo sport and GP Sporting and a GP Stripe it really seems like the system just doesn't recognise this mp3 player. a Samsung YP-K3.

So I'm just gonna tell her I don't belive it is compatable. :(

Press 'Windows button' and say media player to go to the main menu. From there you will see a list of album, artist, genre, folders etc. Then scroll using up and down buttons - use SRC/OK button to select - MUTE/END button to go back.

You can also press the 'Windows button' and say the following.
Play Anything - random
Artists - lists tracks by artist
Album - lists tracks by album
Genre - lists tracks by genre

not tried saying Folder yet but I'm guessing it would list the folders on the data stick. Shame you can't select the tracks by voice.

I had this problem...

I found out it was due to the ID3 tags on my MP3s were set at version 2.4.

Changing them all to to 2.3 (or lower) solved the problem. This can be done in iTunes (Advanced>Convert ID3 Tags) or similar applications.

Good luck
