Engine smell

Do any of you guys with t-jet version of the New Bravo get the smell of the engine through your vents when you start the car when it has been used,"when the engine is warm", i am getting a oily sort of smell when i start the car, its not something i have noticed with other new cars that i have had, only older ones, just wondering whether you think i should get it checked out or whether it is quite normal.

Re: Engine smell

Maybe what i have described sounds stupid as there would be that sort of smell under the bonnet, but as i said other new cars i have driven have not had that sort of smell through the vents, only ones i have had that smell like that are older cars that have quite a few miles on, seeing as there is just 1000m only just clocked up since October where it already had 750 on it as it was a test drive model, or is that just the point that as it was test driven it may have been driven really hard that it may not have done the engine much good, "hopefully not that scenerio"
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Engine smell

i have a brand new ford focus, and yes I get both the problem yuri mentioned and bluebravo.

During the first couple of kilometers I also smelt a sort of burning smell coming whenever i used the brakes hard or when I used the cluth alot. These last two smells are gone, however I still get a sort of smell after long journeys (i don't smell it through the vents though, I smell it when I'm walking past the car).

Re: Engine smell

Hopefully its nothing to worry about, the guys at my local fiat dealer are going to look into it first thing saturday morning just to make sure nothing was left loose after it had some call back stuff done to it last week.

Re: Engine smell

Well the car went in this morning to have 2 rubber washers with drill holes put into them which go either side of the boot door latch as the last part of the recall, And had them check around the engine compartment afterwards to check about the that smell i was getting through the vents just after starting the car when warm, well the answer is .
But seeing as the engine both runs on oil and petrol then it would smell like that
That aside i still love the car still keeps a smile on my face .
I would whole heartedly recommend the Bravo to anyone.

My new Bravo has some kind of burnt plastic / material smell after driving it for a while. I think it's burning off the wax or whatever that's covering the engine bay. The smell is not so strong now, after doing abt 400km.

The car is going in for a check-up at 1000km. I will ask them abt it.

Re: Engine smell

While checking the oil level of my Bravo the other day which was fine by the way, I noticed that the smell i have been talking about when the the engine is warm, and then started, it is exactly the same smell as the car engine oil.
This is stronger of course when the climate control is working.
So i have decided to give Fiat another call, and they told me they want to check it out to make sure nothing has come loose, as i shouldnt get that sort of smell
So car booked in for the 29th of Dec

Re: Engine smell

Had the car checked over yesterday everything was ok, although the service guy said there was a but in his reply, there does seem to be a coolant leak, so he has ordered a new rubber hose and will give me a call when its there so it can be changed.
