Fitting a rear spoiler (Brava)

Sorry for my bad english, but... ;-)

Does anybody have any advice on how to fit a spoiler like this.
It's made from fibreglass and my best guess would be to either glue it on or somehow bolt it.
I don't "trust" glue because the spoiler is rather big and the contact surface with the car is quite small. On the other hand i would have to drill the fibreglass and somehow use an expanding(?) bolt or something to make it stick (the fibreglass is 3 mm thick) and also where it should be mounted on the tailgate there are to layers of metal to drill through...

Any good advice?

Thanks,

So i should just bond it directly to the paint on the tailgate? Won't the paint just tear off after a while?

Was there holes drilled in the spoiler? Did you use any kind of special screws or bolts?

Re: Fitting a rear spoiler (Brava)

slowly and steady thats me secret. then i used sum screws thats it. but i must warn u watch out the spoiler does crack. if it does crack clear up the mess and rebuild it using body filla. u can do wonders with the thing.
infact on my old car (fiesta) i built an entire wheel arch out of it.
but yeh normal plastic drill. normal metal drill normal screws. use sum glue just incase.

I've got a gorgeous silver machine - silver metallic Brava SX 80 16V (W-reg, 2000) now with 34k on the clock but I'd still like a Panda 4x4 Sisley or a Barchetta

No - waiting for the weather to get a little hotter so i can paint it first (decided to buy a compressor, spray gun etc. - found out that i can buy the equipment for painting and enough paint for the whole car for the same price as it would cost to get the spoiler painted by a pro.).

But i decided to drill 3 holes in each end of the spoiler and put two nuts inside the spoiler through the third hole. Fill up the third hole and then bolt it onto the car... I'll take some pictures of the process...

Re: Fitting a rear spoiler (Brava)

I've had my Rear Spolier fitted for the best part of a year now, I took it to a garage (I had no idea how to do it myself and would have wrecked the car if i had done!) They measured it up, drilled the screw holes (Mine didn't arrive with pre-drilled) painted it and screwed the spoiler on to the boot also using bonding jel, which was black, no idea the brand, but i painted it white (I have a white'un) when it was solid. It is still solid now and people are surprised when I tell them that it is an add on rather than coming with the car!
