Hi, any of you out there had any problems with the door handles on a brava rotting away. I have a 98 sx and all four handle surrounds are rotting away, is it just mine,or is it common.

Everyone has this problem. There's nothing you can do except replace the handles. Marea ones can be sprayed the same colour as the car and won't rot.

Scrapyard . There's also the Alfa Romeo 147 chrome door handles if a. you are handy with mechanics and b. you are loaded.

Definitly try a scrapyard,there are a set of 4 in ln liverpool i know cause i got the headlight and wiper switches off it the other day and the bloke says its been there for ages,i'll try and find the number of the yard for you,give em a call mabe they'll deliver or if you can get to liverpool pick em up,anthemmaster

Just avopid spraying too much de icer on your side windows in the winter. thats the stuff that causes them to rot and crumble

I have the same problem. I am thinking of carefully cutting off the rubber. has anyone tried this?

No but I did think about it.

I have spent many hours on them with a tube of superglue, a black marker and touch up paint though!

I sorted mine out the other day. Glued the loose bits down ,masked around handles and filled the cracks with flexible filler.When thats dried sanded them smooth then painted them black. As good as new!

fitting marea handles is better, and they last forever (solid plastic not rubber)
