The bearing has gone on my power steering pump. I have a replacement pump but no fluid as of yet.

As I try to only use genuine parts and fluids etc. On Friday I rung 2 local Fiat Dealers. Brindley told me they had no Tutella in stock, but he would sell me the Citreon power steering fluid instead. So I gave Arnold Clark a try who told No power steering fluid is being produced by Fiats Lubricants division, as all the new Fiat's have electronic pumps.

Call me stupid if I'm wrong but whether the pump is electronic or mechanical don' it still do same job i.e. Pump the fluid around the power steering circuit.

Also what about the models which have Auto Boxes, as they use the same fluid.

Is it only me that can smell bull****?........

stupid! :p

there is no pump on electronic steering, there is an electric motor. so obviously there is no need for any fluid. :D

the dealer's are not telling fibs, they no longer stock the fluid since no current models use it. fiat delaers have a policy of not stocking anything for cars they no longer sell (not even the bits they can sell often like slave cylinders). its shocking when you consider most other budget brands will keep stock for several years after a model is no longer for sale.

do you really think the fluid from the dealer is in any way better than the stuff you can but for half the price at your local motor factors, or even asda or wilko?

there are many brands of PAS fluid, if you have any doubts about the quality buy some well known brand like havoline.

Well don't the new models use Tutela GI/A for the auto transmision's?

The reason I'm so funny with parts is because a few years a go a relative changed the Anti-Freeze in his VW.

Used Anti-Freeze from Halfords to the correct spec for his car. On his way to work a few weeks later had a load of steam out the bonnet.

VW told him that the Anti-Freeze he used had reacted with copper that was mixed with the Alluminium in the head and had bassiclaly eaten through it.

VW took liability and paid for parts and 50% labour
