Hi have just aquired a p reg bravo.

Bit confused in between the fog light and rear window heater switch there is an LED, the guy I got it from didn't even notice it before and doesn't know what it is for.
Does any one know if it would be an after market alarm or is it something that comes with the car from new. If so what is it for. Don't have an alarm fob and it doesn't flash when I lock the car.

its in the correct place for the original LED, its for the alarm. you should have 2 remote keys, when you use them the alarm will arm and the doors will lock, and then the LED will start flashing. i assume its an hlx or hgt model?

in that case i dont think you shouldnt have the LED there, so i guess someone has replaced the centre dash with one from another car

but then again, you havent got a front fog light switch, so maybe i'm wrong and the LED is on all models even if they havent got an alarm.

i have it too... i think it was e of those things that is there for no reason.

i havent seen a single brav* without the light there to be honest....

so stick a wathc batt behind it and it will look like an alarm ;)

No there are Bravo's without the LED. It is the LED for the standard fit alarm however it could be put in with an aftermarket alarm aswell. Afterall its where it is normally so why not fit it there. However alarms could of been fitted to cars that where display models at the dealership or fitted as an option. Its not strange for this to be the case. However they will be on fobs and not the key. Best bet to check is remove the passenger side wheel and remove the inner wheel arch plastic liner, then look behind the wing. You should see the alarm siren if your has an alarm.

However it wasn't put there as standard, as Jug said it could of been replaced at some time. Switches can go faulty and need replacing. Or it was an added option but the previous owner has lost the fobs.

To test for an alarm i think you need to turn the ignition on - off - on - off then remove the key, it should light up for x amount of seconds.

oh yeah i forgot about that!

if there is a bonnet switch it would also suggest you have the standard fit alarm. you can use the bonnet switch to test the siren iirc. cant remember how though. i think you press it 5 times and then hold it down, something like that.

when i put my foglights in i went looking for a second switch and i noticed all of the old mk1 models had the light and the strip of switches wouldn't fit my 2001 bravo! i don't know if it was just fitted..even if you didn't have an alarm!
