HI there,

still happy with my brava i have to say but i still have more questions for u guys :p

1. Rearlight issue

today (driving on lunchbreak) i started a getting a yellow light coming on when pressing brakes with STOP written on it. After consulting manual i saw that this meant one of the stop light bulbs failed to work when pressing pedal. Driving back home in evening this light wasnt coming on anymore so didnt take any notice. When about to park, i noticed this light on again when pressing brakes and noticed that at the back, a brake light was coming on only one side of the car (not sure if brava uses 2 or 1). Does it make sense that this is not constant? Any tips on what i can check before turning it over to electrician/mechanic? Does brava only use 1 brake light?

2. Replacing boot lamp

I have now also noticed my boot lamp never comes on and upon reading manual discovered i can easily remove plastic cover and change bulb inside (tubular 12V-5W bulb) Are these bulbs available at ironmongery or would i have to check for them at a dealership(like fiat)

3. No "burgundy" master key

When being sold my brava, i was only provided with one blue key (dealer lamented he did not have the others after a slightly heated argument). I thought this would not be a major issue as i could always make copies of the key but upon inspecting the "keys" section of the manual I have read about the master burgundy key (and it's importance) and if i understood correctly copies can be made of only this key (with code cards needed too) I found a "security code" card stuck in my car manual but doubt this is the one. It only contains model type, serial no and a 4digit code in it.

My questions are:

- do i have any chance of copying my car key?
- could this be done at a key cutting shop?
- or exclusively by fiat with burgundy key and code cards provided?

4. Tube in Tubeless Tyre

I recently had what i thought was a puncture in one of the back wheels, took it to tyre guys who explained that air was escaping at various points along the alloy rim (car has factory alloys on it) and my only solution was to insert a tube in the tyre, or take the alloy for extensive reshaping/repair. I opted for the tube. Now, leafing through the manual, i saw a note that "under no circumstance" shuould a tube be used in these tyres. What are your opinions on this?

Sorry if the post may seem long but though it would be better to put my qs in one thread rather than create more. You've been a great help so far, Thx.

ok was leaving through some other threads and apparently blue key can be copied "cloned" with no problem, so i should be sorted with that :)

Re: Fiat Brava - Tubeless Tyres, master keys and rear light "issue" question

1) Pretty sure the brava has 3 brake lights that should function, hence the stop if any one of them is out.

You have on on each side and the centre boot strip too.

2) Any motorfactors will have these for 12p or something. take your old one in if your not use what kind you have.

3) As you said been covered. (y)

4) No idea about a tube havent heard of anyone doing that on a Brav*, what kind of alloys are they i guess the ideal situation is to get a replacment asap.

Re: Fiat Brava - Tubeless Tyres, master keys and rear light "issue" question

I'd guess an alloy repair would cost around £50? I got a set of mk2 Bravo HGT alloys for £92 and a set of Mk1 HLX alloys for £50 both with rubber.

Re: Fiat Brava - Tubeless Tyres, master keys and rear light "issue" question

Ohh and picked up a brand spanking new HGT alloy for £9.99+ £10p+p the week after i bough my HGT so as to have a spare, which i needed as one was very slightly buckled.

Re: Fiat Brava - Tubeless Tyres, master keys and rear light "issue" question

why get a new alloy..just get it repaired!!can be done quickly and cheaply!!

well most important for me wud be the "quick" part hehe. dont want to drive on spare tyre at all.

mind you, i have no problem driving with the tube in one of the tyres, just got concerned with how manual stated NO hehe

Re: Fiat Brava - Tubeless Tyres, master keys and rear light "issue" question

oh and they are fiat brava factory alloys

Re: Fiat Brava - Tubeless Tyres, master keys and rear light "issue" question

it cost me €50 to get a badly buckled alloy fixed so it could be cheaper for you. I bought new fiat alloys and it cost an arm and a leg..i'm not very happy with them so i hope to buy new ones during the summer

Re: Fiat Brava - Tubeless Tyres, master keys and rear light "issue" question

I had a wee look into getting it repaired and was quoted £45 for repair and refurb, a wheel. I didnt look about too much so could prob have got it cheaper. But as could buy replacment alloys cheaper i did.
