Hey guys does any one out there know how to programme the factory remote that comes on the fiat key without that bit of paper that has the code on it? i just got 2 blanks with the remote but i dont know how to programme them and fiat said they cant get copies of the codes on the white tags either P.s i have a mark 2 bravo:cry:

no, cant be done without a 4 digit code from a remote that is already programmed in. (one of the original remotes for example)

its sad that so few people have their codes. one of the main reasons i chose my current bravo is that it comes with absolutely everything it had when new, even the alarm master keys! :)

if you can get a code keyring and matching head reader (interior light assembley with remote receiver) from a donor car, and fit that to your car, then you could use that code to teach the reader your remotes.

then your remotes would work your alarm and central locking because as far as i'm aware it is only the reader that is coded to the remote, any reader can work with any alarm and central locking, and any reader can be taught any remote as long as you have a working code that can be used for the learning procedure.

so if you can find an hlx that is getting broken for parts, you could buy the reader and a remote code keyring. finding the parts will probably be hard because few people have the code keyrings for either remote.

you can see why they are so easy to lose

what a silly design. there is an italian out there somewhere who was paid to come up with this. he/she needs a good hard slap.

Its like you said jug, its highly unlikely that i will get a reader with its code and keys i will have to either get an aftermarket alarm or just live with it like this as it is, if i were to get an alarm have you got any suggestions as to suitable makes e.t.c?

any alarm that will work your central locking will do. the cheap ebay ones are good enough. i've fitted a few. dont bother with bonnet and hatch switches, just get one with ultrasonic sensors and stick to a simple install with less wiring. for £30 you can get sorted.

I've done a little work on the remote, not as much as I would like. Have read the transmitted code, its 12 bytes long. The problem will be how is this huge value number condensed to just 10000 ie 5-2-0-1 etc. Once that algorithm is sorted it will be possible to use a matched key/receiver pair to open the receiver for accepting new unknown keys. Further down the line maybe read the receiver and decode the loaded key info, but a long way off yet. One interesting possibility is the cloning of replacement key to an existing key, That would not be too difficult to do. Another fairly easy answer is to purchase a new (already open) receiver and copy the nvram contents into non virgin receivers ie make them virgin, then you could start again with replacement remotes.

K bringing back an old thread does any one know how to programme a into the code box so my central locking can work off the key again, by some luck the guy that sold me the car managed to find the codes for the keys so im hoping maybe someone can help me (jug) thanks guys

Hi bandido41
I've got some good results from recoding the receiver and can open it up ok. However there's bound to be variations of the receiver types. The test type I used is about 6" long with 2 sensors, a button and a green LED. I dont know how to get a photo on here or I would show you what it looks like.
If you want to me to take a look I would need the receiver. I dont want anything for doing it, so PM me if you are interested.

Ah looks like this.

Just out of curiosity, if were to get a virgin key from fiat would that key come a code of is own or would i have to program a code into it myself?

Assume it would have a fixed immo code to suit a Punto and a fixed remote code for the looking etc and a tag with the code No. on it. However you need to unlock the receiver before you can use it for remote operations. You would need the red key and at least 2 blue keys to complete the immo loading.

So then this would be done the same way as programming a new key into the ecu whereby you have to hve the red ky plus however many keys you want to programme into the ecu (min of 2 obviously)

Check for the No. "2" next to rf logo on the working key, no "2" means program using red key etc. "2" means get immo coding from Fiat.

so you now have the remote codes, and working remotes
(and cant be bothered to search for the programming technique :nono:)

all you have to do is:

-Press the button that is between your courtesy light and the ultrasonic sensors on the roof of your car (near sunroof switch)
-Release the button after a second or two
-After a couple of seconds the LED will flash once
-Enter the first digit of your 4 digit code by pressing the button the relevant number of times
-After a couple of seconds the LED will flash once
-Repeat this for the next 3 digits of the code.

If the code was correct the LED will flash for approximately 10 seconds.
(If the code was incorrect the LED will remain on for 10seconds, so start from the beginning when the LED goes out)

-With the LED flashing press and hold the button on the car and then press and hold the button on the key. Keep them both pressed until the LED stops flashing and remains on.
-Release the button on the remote, then the one on the car.

now what heppens next depends on the age of the car. some cars have a red LED others have a green LED.

for a red LED, if the programming was successful the LED will flash 6 times, but if it was unsuccessful the LED will flash 18 times

for a green LED, if the programming was successful the LED will flash 8 times (i think, maybe less), but if it was unsuccessful the LED will stay on for a few seconds (8 i think?)

Thanks jug, i did try searching (that was how i came across my old thread) and i saw quite a few ways none of which were succesful and surpirisingly i didnt find any of yours either.
