is the original fiat bravo radio rubbish? the dash doesn't look quite complete without the original radio..and i've been able to get my hands on an original radio with a cd changer. I don't know whether to buy it or not! are they rubbish because everyone seems to change them? would it be a nightmare to connect the cd changer or is the wiring there? what would I expect to pay for it?any help appreciated!!

I've just bought a fiat radio from my local scrappers as i too think it looks great with the original radio installed. personally i think it sounds just fine, but what do i know? it sounds more bassy than the radio my sister has in her '97 Corsa so i was wel happy with that. i plan to get a CD changer aswel. i'm sure some people will disaggree about the quality of sound from the fiat radio but i'm happy with mine :D

although, if you find that the fiat radio sound isnt to your liking you could put a different one in and use a facia. theres one ive seen that looks exactly like the fiat one and it flips down so u can access your actual radio/cd player. also good for security perposes ;)

I found them quite good, but the one out the Brava broke within 2 yrs, think a few others have had that problem also. The one in my Bravo still works fine, but changed it to my headunit as it has tonnes more features and mp3, ipod etc etc/.

Also your very very very limited to what cd changers will work with the original headunit.

These guys do a fab fascia:

yea when i bought my bravo the radio that was in that was dead, wouldnt turn on or anything, then went to scrappers to get a new 1 (wel, second hand) and when they were testing them in the scrappers some didnt work, but managed to get one that worked. they seem to suffer from power loss alot

if your bravo is MK1 (<1998) then there is already wiring there in your boot but if your bravo is a MK2 (1999 onwards) then you will have to run the wire yourself

ya i just did a search and saw that you can put it under the rear seats..thats much better than the boot!!how difficult would it be to wire it all up?i have a 01 model and going by what "daztap" said i won't have the wires in my car!I am not confident with electrics..but my dad is pretty handy..is it a home job or would i be better off getting it done by a professional???

I have a 1999 bravo and when i get round to buyin a changer i'm goin to attempt to wire it myself, it cant be that hard, theres only 1 wire..i think..

The CD one is the highest available version with reasonable parameters. You'll need a special adaptor to fit MP3 player or like (described on this forum before).

Fitting a changer (if you still need one) is a home job, definitely.

But note - you can either have a changer or MP3.

is the original fiat bravo radio rubbish?

i threw my mint condition perfectly working headunit in the bin so i guess that does make it literally rubbish. all the original speakers were also binned.

you can buy a head unit in a scrapyard for £10-20 so thats all they're worth. i wouldnt be surprised if they go for double that on ebay.

i havent got a code generator that works with these head units so it may be wise to buy one that comes with the code.

personally i wouldnt waste the money because you can get a much better head unit for the same price.

there's a marea with a CD head unit in a scrapyard near me. i saw it only 2 weks ago. next time i'm there i will try my best to get it for you without damaging it, no man love required. :D

does anyone have the code generator?

I wonder how much it would cost to ship to PL. Any ideas? Dunno anything about postage charges in the UK.

If this can end up in around Ł30 altogether I'd be happy as hell!

I think I know why they keep breaking, its the heat from the vents which overheats the radio causing electrical problems.

Just my thoughts :)

For me just to get a basic headunit would cost at least €100..and i'm talking basic..so if I were to buy a cd changer aswell we'd be talking a lot more money!! My original speakers aren't that bad..they aren't top of my list of things to do anyway!!
