I have just bought a Fiat Brava and I am trying to install my sony head unit and CD player.

According to my calculations, the power block on the wiring should be

Code:
30A - Aerial - empty - empty
Ground - 15A * - Illum - empty

where the 15A supply with the * is always on (I.e, for the memory)

I have checked the supply and I am getting always on on the 30A supply and not the 15A.

Does fiat use some none standard wiring or am I doing something wrong?

HELP!!

Bravos are the other way around m8.(probably the same for all fiats) gota swap ur permanent live with the ignition live.

OK, I think I have it working now.

Not only was the switched live and permanant live the wrong way round, but also the illumination wire.

Does anyone know what position the switch on my sony head unit should be? There are two options, position A if your car has an ACC setting on the ignition and position B if it doesn't.

Scarcrow: I've got the same problem so will swap the live wires. What do you mean by "but also the illumination wire."?? If I understand you, is this how you've now got your wiring:

15A * - Aerial - empty - empty
Ground - Illum - 30A - empty

Where * is the perminant (memory) supply

Cheers :)

you have replied to a thread that is 3 years and 5 months old.

all you need to do is swap the permanent live and ignition live, which is very easy on most stereos as the wires have bullet connectors so you can do this (that's what the bullter connectors are there for).

i've never had a problem with the illumination wire, it dimmed my headunit when the lights were switched on.

Hi ,many thanks for this. I've tried to get the plug connectors out of the block but cannot seem to get them out (I know i'm being thick now!), any tips?

Ta

you dont do it that way. on the stereo wiring harness the red and yellow (or orange) wires have connectors in the middle of the wire allowing you to swap them over. if the connectors are not there, cut the wires and stick bullet connectors on so you can do it.
