my leccy windows are REEEEEEEALLY slow.

they start off (the first inch or so of opening) being really fast, but then get progressively slower to the point where i could almost go and get a cup of Tea whilst waiting for it to go fully down.

also i have noticed the lights on the swithes dont work all the time?

does anyone have any ideas?

my thought was that the motor might need to be replaced. the car is under warrenty so whatever the problem is they can fix it. (lol)

also when the car is sat still (ticking over) with the headlights and the radio on (works fine) and the wipers are on intermitent the engine seems to dip (ever so slightly by around 500rpm)

i dont know if that is related to the window problem or not?

Cheers, Joe

windows should be lubricated twice a year using a ptfe silicone spray. try it and i'm sure it will make all the difference. DO NOT use wd40 or any oil based lubricants, this will make them worse in the long run, much worse.

the LED's in the switches commonly fail (i know i say that about everything but its true). i've had to replace the switches on both my bravos. scrapyard switch £2 (or stick it in your pocket).

the idle rpm dips when you have headlights, wipers and radio on because all these electrical devices mean there is less current available for the engine, and at idle the alternator's output is not as high as when driving. do a quick test using a multimeter set to DC voltage mode. measure the voltage across the battery with the engine running and no electrical devices switched on. it should be 14.4v. now switch everythgin on (lights, radio, heater, demister, wipers etc.) and do the test again. the voltage should now be 13.99v, if it is any less it means the alternator isn't producing as much output as it should, or the voltage regulator is faulty. either way a new alternator is the inevitable long term solution, although its nothing to worry about immediately unless the voltage readings are very low (13v or less)

Phew... so i just need to lubricate the sliders a little :)

thanks matey i was getting a little worried there...

espeically as the drivers one crawls down at snails pace adn the other one is a little quicker :)

cheers matey :)

spotted green moss like stuff at the end of the rubber seals by the windows on mines, had been wondering if that caused the slowness as well (and also how to get rid)

right... (Still related to the above sorta) i was chatting reading somewhere that the Relays could be changed from a higher spec bravo/a marea to allow the "one push" up and down on the leccy windows.... and that the relay was behind the fuses under the steering wheel.

now i found the relay area, but dont know which ones does what.

can someone show a pic of the relay i need to change and aquire to replace it :D

haynes manual has a relay map iirc, or at least a relay numbering system that you can compare to the numbers on the fusebox. there should be 2 relays, one for each window. replace both if you want both to be one touch. you'll need 2 donor cars to get 2 relays because models with one touch only have it on the driver's side.

Which Bravo/a Mareas have 1 touch up and down on drivers side, or which dont, i thought they all did but if you say you need 2 relays that would suggest that it wouldnt already have 1 touch on the drivers side.

aparently its the HLX models :D

i looked a while back into this but forgot to be specific in asking where the relay is lol..

so have almost every relay exept the right one lol. haha.

are thereany other relays next to the window ones or is it just the window ones?

one relay controls one window.

so you need to find two of the same spec and pinch both of the drivers side relays and replace your standard ones.

as far as i know the HLX and HGT have the one touch. not sue on the ELX but i think they do.

My mk2 2001 SX has 1 touch up and down on the drive side.
but you need to hold the switch for the passengers.

if i replace the relay will it still be one touched if the window is activated by the passenger switch or the drivers?

how easy is it to access the relays/ remove the steering wheel?

On my Brava 1.6 100HSX 16v both driver and passenger windows are 1 touch:confused: not that I am complaining.
