I have just purchased a 1.8 ELX and have a query re heated seats on a 1.8 elx. They only seem to come on if the car is cold (ie overnight) but not at any other time, is there a thermostat that regulates whether they are able to be operated?
The Aircon doesn't seem to blow out any colder air than the normal air coming in, is this an easy problm to solve?[?]

the refrigerant in the aircon might need charging, sounds like a thermostat with the seats but would be unusual for them both not to work. are they turned up?

Met Cognac 99 Brava 100 HSX,

I get the same problem with my seats. sometimes they f**k'n hot real quick then other times they take ages to warm up..

I have both seats turned on both seats do the same thing, so is there a shared thermostat? The manual and haynes manual don't really mention much about anything heated seat related.
As to the air con, how cold should it get when working properly?

the aircon should feel really cold. but on a marea i drove, the cold wasn't as cold as on my mum's corolla

thanks for the info, back to the dealer it goes for a refill I think, the seats have now started working again! weird!

don't go near the dealer for a refill. go to a car aircon specialist, dealers will rip you off

Alrite, ive got the same problem, my heated seats for the passanger side always work but mine dont  . Ive checked the fuses and they all seem fine tho :S. The other thing i was wondering is if there is any other form of control for the heated seats other than the switch on the side of the seat? Thanks alot for help

first thing to check, does the red LED on both seats light up when the switch is used, if both work then both have an ok power supply.

and if the seat is getting power it should work unless it has an internal fault.

Hi, yea both lights come on. sounds like an interior fault to me! im gna have to find out how to replace it, i might just buy a whole new HGT chair lol, du think thats a good idea?

Its more than likely the heating element has fractured, causing no current to pass = no heat. There is no option but to replace the seat with another HGT seat with working heating elements or replace the heating elements. I think its £300 at Fiat for the heating pads. They can break easily for example if you kneel on the seat or have kids climbing/jumping on the seats.

My advise if you want heated seats is to fit universal heating pads, which would be more rugged than the original.

These cost approx £50 delivered for two seats. Bottom and back pads x2.

All you would need to so is remove the upholstery and remove original heat pads and replace with these and refit the seat covers. You can either rewire into the original switch or the new one provided.
