Hey guys, first time poster, can I just take time to say "Jug, been viewing some of your responses, impressed =), fantastic forum too".... okies, here'sd my prob fellas.

Aight well whats happened is this.... bought a car from auctions. Fiat Bravo TD100 SX, T reg (1999 model). Injector light stayed on constantly, and temp gauge problem is this.... Turn key > doesnt matter if u start engine or just keep it turned to switch on electrics (key in second position), the temp idles at 50%, then after approx 30-45 seconds shoots upto past the (HOT) symbol.

Now from what Ive read in other topics this could be a faulty ECU *hopefully not*, could be co2 sensor problem, possibly just a damn pain in the butt electrically, and last but not least, possibly injectors (OH, yeah or maybe's HT lead need replacing).... think I might have covered it all there.

Movign swiftly from speculation, any ideas what could be the problem fellas? Taking it for MOT test this afternoon, so diagnostics check should reveal any problem hopefully, but was hoping to get a heads-up from you guys at fiatforum.com.

Many thanks, and many christmas wishes to you all.
May the new year hold less fiat problems for us all *hehe*

the temp gauge problem is very common. there's a guide to fixing it here: http://www.fiatboo.co.uk/photogal/guidepics/jumpingtempdial_2.pdf

the injector light should be thought of as the engine management light, it indicates a fault but the possibilties are endless. i'm less familiar with the TD models so its hard to say what it is most likely to be. does the car still drive ok? if it seems to run fine it is often a problem with the lambda (o2) sensor, but instead of changing parts willy nilly you're better off getting a diagnostic check done.

there are two temp sensors on the TD100, in the thermostat housing (on end of engine - remove battery to access). The one with the red connector is for the guage - disconnect this and switch on ignition to check the guage - it should stay at 0, if not there is a wiring or guage fault). The injector light really needs a diagnostic to check, FIAT or a good independant garage with diagnostic gear should be able to do it. Checking all the sensors and wiring around the engine might be worth doing in case its anything silly like a pulled plug.

Does the engine run well with plenty of power ??.

Owen.
