Hello everyone i'm new here. I have a 2000 Brava SX 1.2 and just the other day I removed the battery to charge as it ran flat. I put it back on this morning and since putting it back on when I turn the heater on it is making a rattling noise. Just wondering if anyone knows if it is a result of removing the battery or whether it is just coincidence that it is doing this? Bear in mind I know very little about cars, i'm a bit stumped as to why they would suddenly start making a noise.

Thanks in Advance.

just changed my battery for a new one the other day and i have not had any issues with the heaters in it. Maybe you knocked something when charging it or something.

probably just leaves in it. now that its getting a bit more power (from new battery, if old one was dying) it may have sucked leaves in. mine is rattling/vibrating at the minute, but only on the fastest speed, and i know its just leaves (again). you can usually hoover them out if you stick a hoover hose down the vent where the air is drawn in (where pollen filter would sit). you remove the plastic panel to access it, in the engine bay, passenger side, just in front of the windscreen.

Cheers for the replies guys. It makes the same noise regardless of speed and does sound like maybe something is touching the fan (like a fast clicking). I'll have a look. Cheers.

the ideal solution is to clean it out then fit a filter. a bravo/a pollen filter will fit perfectly (thats where its supposed to go), but that costs money so i used a pair of old tights instead, it worked for ages, but i taped it in place and the tape got wet, so it came off and let more leaves in. i'm going to cable tie it in place this time, then i should be ok forever.

Re: noisy heater fan

I have the same problem with my heater fan on my Bravo making a clicking noise. It's definitely not a leaf causing the noise - if you stick your head under the passenger footwell it's a definite click or tick sound - kinda with every revolution of the fan or something - as it's directly proportional to the fan setting - ie. goes faster on the faster fan settings. This is really starting to annoy me now, as I thought it would be something simple to fix like a looase wire against the fan then saw what's under there (lots of sealed electrical 'boxes') and know it's gona be a pain to track it down. Does anyone have any tips as to what could be causing this? Help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

that sounds exactly like a leaf or twig or something similar is inside the fan.

as you have seen its a sealed unit. but you can remove it and clean it out. use a haynes manual to help.

Hmmmm well ok - Hopefully I'll get some time to have a proper look and see what I can take apart... I hope you're right and it's as simple as some debris. Maybe I'll get time over the weekend... or I could be snowboarding at this rate! Cheers!
