I've seen on this forum many different problems that occur with bravo's, and it seems to me there is a bit of order to them.

Basically i know the build quality aint great but i do like the drive, so i just want a list of what i can expect to go wrong next.

So far in this order, since buying the car in less than 12 months i've had

Head gasket
Throttle position sensor
Leaking roof

Has anyone else had them in this order if so what went wrong next.

obviously there's no order and no way of knowing what will be next.

seasonal variations are what cause the apparent outbreaks of problems, for example everyone notices their sunroof leaks during wet weather, and they also notice their idle is bad on cold winter mornings. the problems will have been there for some time, but you only notice them when something goes wrong. rear wipers tend to fail during or just after winter because the salt gets into the motor and corrodes it (one to watch out for in the near future).

i can tell by your faults that its a 1.2, so i can also assume with a fair amount of certainty that the car will also suffer from differential failure at some point. but there's no way to know whats coming next, and there's no divine order to the faults. use, maintenance, age and milage all have an impact.

I wouldnt have said that any of these were linked:

Head gasket
Throttle position sensor
Leaking roof

If you'd had say:

Fan failure
Water Pump Failure
Oild cooler failure
Head gasket
Warpped head

Then those would follow if you know what i mean, i fixed a 80sx head gasket and is right as rain now, although currently off the rd. Just make sure you fix the problem that caused the overheating, as often its not just the head gasket but a faulty fan relay, thermistor etc too.

Didnt think i had a problem with anything other than the head gasket knackering, bought it like it (well misses did ;) ).

Maybe a list is perhaps not the right way of putting it, i have been known to abuse everything i buy, and have a fix it when its broke mentality or even as bad as if it dont run right but does drive use it until it totally knackers.

So just wondered whether anything in the way of knackered is around the corner.

Part of the fun of the Bravo for me. You never know what is next.

My current problem is throttle contol valve. Will get around to that over Christmas, and my speedo stopped working on saturday. Got some one coming out to change the sender unit after christmas because the Haynes manual says the pinion can drop into gearbox. If the mobile mechanic drops it into the gearbox that it is his problem. to get it out.

in reality if the mobile mechanic drops it into the box he'll say nothing and leave it there.

Sorry mate, my order is totally different:

Brake pipe
Exhaust
Shocks
Thermostat
Exhaust

Given the exhaust and shocks are basically consumables so far my Bravo is beating my previous Volkswagon Golf in the reliability stakes! Not bad for 40k miles I reckon.

O dear new addition :( wing mirror has collided with a car, it jumped off my door as i was going through a tight gap at speed.

Anyone know where i can get one from i need the glass and the plastic the glass sits on.

Drivers side btw

Nah he only lives around the corner from me. He is ex-Fiat so he knows them in side out. He has a Fiat-Lancia tester (Don't ask because he won't tell me how he got it). Diagnostic checks £10.00

I have used him before he is pretty hot.

Any way I am bigger than he is (y)

scrapyard £5

Good scrapyards are hard to find around here, probably because they burnt down few times, there was about 8 seperate scrapyards on the same plot of land which ended up being a lot of burning cars and a lot of exploding gas bottles.

So they closed it down :(

Anywhere else?

I know where you mean the jungle up at Bilston. The only places I know now are Ashmore Lake, J Gardner in Bloxwich off Leamore Lane, and Cross Street North up by Untouchables off the Cannock Road as you go into Wolverhampton. There is one where they sell parts off the shelf at Fighting Cocks in Bilston but he is mainly a Renault Breakers.
