Hi,
Just got back the AA report on the HGT I'm planning to buy. One of the things noted was that the oil level was really low, even though the car had a full service 1000 miles ago - do HGT's tend to be thirsty on oil or is this indicative of a serious problem?

Apart from that though the report was pretty good: needs new front disks, coolant system needs flushing and it needs a new battery clamp

well normally the biggest problem is the people who serive it. they do use oil but aslong as its not chucking it out the exhaust in a bluey ting colour then it should run fine. if its been running for to long without oil the engine will be really tappety and sound quite ruff..;)

Proud owner of a bravo HGT!! SO now for sale a very Cheap PUNTO for sale 74,000 miles midnight blue 1.6 8v sporting K&N induction kit, lowered 35mm, full system exhaust, tinted windows, cadamuro light brows,de badged front and de locked passenger side,

Basically I'm just going to buy the car tonight and I'll sort the keys out at another time - the immobiliser in the key works fine but I just can't blip the alarm on and off

Can't wait!

good luck hope you make it home

Just noticed this post as i was inquiring into oil consumption in a HGT.I've had mine since about january and done 2 oil changes, one thing ive noticed is that i havn't had to put a drop of oil in apart from at changes. It just doesn't use any!!
Its a 97 HGT with 87000 miles getting the cam belt done in 2 weeks(luckily a local garage mechanic has done a few b4 and he's only charging £300 if i supply parts, which is nice!)I use magnatec which i know most people slate, but it seems ok for me.
Dunno if this oil usage,or lack of is normal.Mabe i'm just fortunate.I once had a RS Turbo that use more oil than petrol, but i learned the Ford mistake a long time ago,and never again lol.

Err, that's not exactly cheap mate as the kit will cost IRO £200. Rob at Powerfiat.co.uk will do it for £399 including all parts, labour and VAT. He is a long time Coop20VTurbo owner and well respected on the Coop forum so I'd get calling if I were you.

I also find that my HGT uses no oil at all.

Wow thanks Ozric-Al,i got a quote from Fiat for 1200 quid inc water pump so i thought £300+parts was cheap.
I Emailed powerfiat and they replied within the hour,if there service is as good i highly recommend them.Gonna book it in for a couple of weeks,Again thanks for the Advice most appreciated, saved me a few quid.:)
Think i'll get that K&N now.

No worries fella. You do realise that they are in Essex? Bloody long way from Liverpool!

Sorry for the delay in response been on holiday in Rhodes for a week, unfortunatley got salmonella which wasn't nice:(.Got a reply from the site and the job takes 4 hours and i think with petrol its about a ton cheaper. But the guy in Essex seems to know his stuff and the local mechanic has only done a few cambelts.Plus with the extra £100 i save i could invest in an induction kit,any recomendations for that kinda money?
Probably gonna book it in next week.Cheers al

Always a pleasure to help an HGT owner fella. That price includes the water pump too you know. :)

BTW, tell Rog Ozric-Al sent ya. He got a bit of a rough ride on the Bravo Forum for a bit until someone actually used his services for a cambelt change. Wickford Jay on there had his done a couple of weeks ago and was over the moon!

Let us know how you get on chap. :)
