2001 JTD Cambelt change?

Hi all.

Can someone possibly give me some sort of guide how to change the cambelt on a 2001 Brava JTD?

It's never been done and is at 70k so I guess it's time to do it, but Haynes don't do a manual that covers the engine (I've got a petrol manual, but not much use!)

Would appreciate help on this one.

Sam

go to http://www.babarmalik.com/ledmods.htm
download the guides that cover everything. you need guides 3&4 (mk2 guides)

hopefully that will help

Re: 2001 JTD Cambelt change?

That looks fantastic.

Do I assume though that for a JTD I follow the same proceedure as detailed for a TD100?

Looks actually to be quite simple, not worth the £270 I've been quoted, looks to be a couple of hours max really, and can do the rest of the service at the same time....

Hopefully though it's the same as the TD100 service?

Where do I get the bolts to lock the pulleys, or do I just find any old bolts that will fit, they're not a funny thread or anything are they? Any ideas of size/length?

Motor Mech quoted me a lot less than £270, circa £155 about 4 months ago but I haven't have time to follow it up.

if you use the procedure in guide3/4 it will be for the JTD.

the camshaft locking tools can be bought online, or you can just add some tippex to the cam pulleys so you know where they go, being careful not to allow them to move much during belt removal and refitting. if the tippex marks are in the same place as when you started, and the crankshaft hasnt moved (stick handbrake on and in 5th gear) then you dont need to worry about having the correct cam locking tools.

Don't forget to replace tensioner pulleys, auxilary belt, waterpump etc.
