I have recently had a replacement clutch fitted on my Bravo 80SX and after aproximately 100 miles of driving heard loud scraping noises from the front. it became very difficult to steer particularly at full lock. A mechanic friend investigated and found that the offside steering assembly was loose due to the hub nut not being on the thread sufficiently to tighten it. As a result the car is now undriveable. What, exactly is the procedure to replace the clutch? If the garage had to remove the wheel asembly then I can at least challenge them on this. Any comments would be most welcome please.

Replacing the clutch involves working at the components you have mentioned, so whoever has changed your clutch has been negligent. You need to remove the transmission to change the clutch. To remove the transmission you need to remove the driveshafts, and this is the part of the job they have done incorrectly.

Hi Waderider

Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my problem. The garage have admitted liability and we are working to resolve it. Your advice was very useful.

Thanks again
