Question Tuning?

Just recently purchased my standard 1.4 Bravo. Although it seemed fairly quick when i first got it, it now seems abit slow. So was thinking of tuning it slightly. However i do not have a clue what to do or were to start.

Was wondering if anyone had any ideas that werent too expensive that would improve the performance a little?

Cheers .L.B.

Re: Tuning?

nothing you can do will make much difference, it would be wasted money

its better to sell it for as much as possible and buy a cheap 1.6

Re: Tuning?

Thanks mate, thought that was the case as been looking for avalability of parts and nothing seems to be avaliable.

Will a 1.6 be that much quicker though? And do you know if it will kill me on insurance?

Cheers

Re: Tuning?

my first bravo was a 1.6, and its quick even compared to other 1.6 cars. noticably quicker than a 1.6 16v escort, and a 1.6 astra. in fact now i think about it, its probably the quickest 1.6 i've ever driven. the engine feels so torquey its great to drive. compared to the 1.4 you'll be flying.

insurance is only group 6 so its cheap as chips compared to many other 1.6 cars.

Re: Tuning?

I have to say, my 1.6 feels faster than any car I've driven to date. And that includes 2litre turbo diesels and 1.8 petrols. It's great fun for a relatively small engine.

Re: Tuning?

My MK2 1.6 is strangely fast... I really cannot believe it. (touch wood ). This car made me fall in love with italian engines... They are fast, small and economic. Now I'm really thinking of switching to a brand new Alfa 147 1.6 in the next couple of years.... But that's just me

Re: Tuning?

i've thought about the 147, it has a lovely interior. the only thing to be worried about is finding parts. its still a fiat so it'll have the same problems as out cars, but there aren't as many 147s so finding parts will be hard, i've never seen one in a scrapyard yet, and i never like owning cars that aren't in scrapyards, it can be an expensive mistake.

Re: Tuning?

Well Jug as always, you have a point.... Here also I've never seen scrappys that have spare parts for the 147...Too bad... It's a great car.
The way I figure it is to buy it brand new from the dealership and get an all-risk insurance for it and let them worry about getting the parts from Italy
But then again, my heart wants a Japanese SUV
Well too early to say, as long as I'm as broke as now I'll always have my FIFI
