can anyone help i've just purchase a brava14 12v on a r reg bring it homeit cut out and would not restart so got it towed home once it cooled down it started ok until it got warm then cut out again and this has happen since once it cooled down it will start for about 10 minutes HELP ANYONE PLEASE

When you say it won't start does it crank the engine but not 'catch'? Is the code light out when you're trying to start the car?

hi just checked the haynes manual i know where it is now thank you but the car starts ok when cold. just cuts out when gets warm so does that sensor deal with that sorry to be a pain in the neck

yes the code light goes out it turns over but just dosent fire

if there a probleam with my ecu cani get one from a breakers yard or do i have to get a new one and do i have to get one of the same modle or will one of a diffrent modle do

I've heard similar symtoms as you have (starts when cold ok - won't start when hot) and it turned out to be the CPS. This sensor doesn't seem to like the heat.

it is NOT an ecu problem

trust me on that.

and no, you cant stick an ecu from a different model on your engine,

or even from the same model unless you get it virginised to accept your current immob code box.

As mentioned you can't replace the ECU, although it does sound like a problem with the engine management system.

Also as mentioned you can go through the system replacing sensors until you resolve the issue, starting with the crank sensor. Alternatively you can pay fiat to plug a computer into your car and do a diagnostic, so you know exactly what part to replace.

There is a third way if you have basic electronics knowledge and that is to test each sensor separately with a multimeter to test they are working within acceptable parameters.
